Lattice Fold Cards using Color & Contours

I recently shared how to make Lattice Fold Cards using a template. The technique has been around for years but I love re-visiting things that I’ve not tried for quite a while.

Lattice Fold Cards

The more common lattice fold cards tend to have the lattice going down the edge (the fold of the card). But I decided to try something a little different.

Basic Instructions for Portrait Lattice Fold Card above (lattice sits towards the left edge of the panel)

  1. Pool Party base card – 14.9 x 21.0 cm scored and folded in half at 10.5 cm
  2. Hand-Penned paper – 5.0 x 14.9 cm
  3. Basic White – 2 lots of 10.0 x 14.4 cm (1 for the inside).

The Basic White card stock was scored and folded at 3.0 cm before the template was fixed to it using a paper clip.

There is no reason why your cards have to be portrait so the picture and instructions below is of a landscape one.

Basic Instructions for Landscape Lattice Fold Cards

1. Thick Basic White base card – 14.9 x 21.0 cm scored and folded in half at 10.5 cm
2. Hand-Penned paper – 10.5 x 14.9 cm glued to the front of the card and 1.5 x 14.9 cm glued inside the card.
3. Basic White – 10.0 x 14.4 cm plus scraps for the flowers.

The Basic White card stock was scored and folded at 5.0 cm (down the middle) before the template was fixed to it using a paper clip

Criss Cross Cards with Flowers of Friendship and latest In Colors

Have you tried making Criss Cross Cards? They are fun and surprisingly easy to make so let me show you how.

criss cross cards with Flowers of Friendship and latest In Colors

Criss Cross cards can be either landscape or portrait and although the original cutting and scoring instructions are different (only the measurements) the actual technique is the same.

Landscape criss cross cards

  1. Coloured Card Stock  (I used Polished Pink) – 2 lots of 10.5 x 29.7 cm both pieces scored and folded in half at 14.9 cm
    • First piece – cut diagonally from top of score line to bottom right corner.
    • Second piece – cut diagonally from top of score line to bottom left corner.
    • Adhere one inside the other so that the two points are on the outside – make sure that you keep within the score line so that the card can be folded.
  2. Double-sided paper (I used Fresh Freesia)
    • 1 lot of 10.0 x 14.4 cm for glueing inside the card
    • 1 lot of 10.0 x 13.9 cm which is then cut diagonally. Each triangle is then glued to the triangles that fold over to create the card front. Note – you will need to use the reverse side for one of the triangles.
  3. Basic White card stock
    • 1 lot of 9.5 x 13.9 cm for inside the card
    • Additional card stock to create focal point for the front of the card.

    • Second piece – cut diagonally from top of score line to bottom left corner.

Monday Makes with the Acorns

It’s over a year since I started the Monday Makes with the Acorns.  I try to catch up with the team every Monday morning and it’s become something that we all look forward to. It’s a good excuse to have a natter, catch up on things and do some crafting together.

When we started in April 2020 I came up with a fun fold design each week. Everyone chose their own stamps, ink and paper and “simply” followed the verbal instructions.  Each week was a bit of an unknown and it certainly took a few people out of their comfort zone. It’s now come to the point that people volunteer to come up with a design and instructions. Great for me because I then get to chat and craft along with everyone.

We all now have many different styles of cards that we have made over the months,  so I thought I’d share some of my Monday Makes with you.

All of these projects are from March 2021. Some feature products that have now retired and others that will be retiring at the end of June when the Jan-June 2021 Mini Catalogue ends.

Monday Makes - 1 March

Monday Makes - 8 March

Monday Makes - 15 March

The items still available are as follows. Please note that  cardstock (excluding Rococo Rose), ink and Stampin’ Blends are still available. Let me know if you would like the details.

Colouring with Clear Wink of Stella - Card & Stamping Techniques

Colouring with a Clear Wink of Stella brush is a quick and simple way to add colour and sparkle at the same time.  To create the card featured in this post, I used a couple of the new 2021-2023 In Colors and a new stamp set called Flowers of Friendship. Both of these can be found in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue.

colouring with clear wink of stella and Flowers of Friendship

The trick to colouring with a Wink of Stella brush is to make sure that there’s not too much wink on the brush when picking up the ink. Ask me how I know!

Cutting instructions for the card are as follows

Evening Evergreen cardstock

  1. 14.9 x 21.0 cm scored and folded in half at 10.5 cm
  2. 3.5 x 6.0 cm for sentiment

2021-2023 In Color 6″ x 6″ double sided paper (Polished Pink) – 10.0 x 14.4 cm

Basic White cardstock

  1. 8.0 x 11.0 cm – die cut using largest rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.
  2. 3.5 x 6.0 cm – die cut using the next one up from the smallest rectangle in the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. For stamping sentiment.
  3. 10.0 x 14.4 cm for decorating and then gluing inside the card
  4. Scrap to stamp and colour an extra flower head.

If you would like to see how I made the card, check out my YouTube video.

The 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue is now live

The 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue is now live so I thought I’d celebrate by sharing a project with you.

It's here

Click on the image above if you would like to see an electronic version of the catalogue. It’s a PDF so you can download it direct from the Stampin’ Up! website and save it to where-ever is the most handy for you.

The project I’m sharing uses the Hand-Penned Suite. In particular, the Hand-Penned Petals Bundle and the Hand-Penned      12″ x 12″ double-sided paper.

As well and the bundle and double-sided paper the suite also includes the Genial Gems (not used).

The 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue is now live

Each image is coloured using a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush and coloured ink pads.  The easiest way to colour the images is to pick up the colour from the lid of the ink pad using the tip of the Wink of Stella brush. Then colour the image working out from the centre. This way, the colour is more concentrated in the middle and fades as you move out. TIP – to get ink onto the inside of the lid either (i) squeeze the closed ink pad firmly close to the hinge or (ii) add a drop of ink from a bottle of the appropriate refill.

The 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue is now live - Hand Penned Suite

The corner of the card front together with the paper on the inside and the Calypso Coral border are cut using the border die from the Penned Flowers Dies.

The technique used for this Hand-Penned project can be replicated for any line-art image. So why not try it for yourself?
