Available now - Fitting Florets Collection

The Fitting Florets Collection is now available.

From time to time Stampin’ Up! release a new collection of products that will feature in a forthcoming catalogue. The Fitting Florets Collection is one such release. The collection includes the following. Each items can be purchased individually or as a complete collection.

Please note that the Fitting Florets paper, Framed & Festive stamp set and the Gold Adhesive Backed Swirls are only available until 4 Jan 2023. What’s more, these three items are only available on a while supplies basis.

The paper is gorgeous. There are images that can be die-cut but it’s quite easy to fussy cut them too. The reverse sides have great patterns that can be used for all sorts of occasions.

Fitting Florets cased card from flyer

I cased the above card from the flyer supplied by Stampin’ Up! The card below is one I made for a recent Monday Makes with the Acorns.

You can see more of this card and another made using the same collection in my recent video.

Monday Makes with Gnomes and Snowflakes

I used the Storybook Gnomes paper and the Joyful Flurry Bundle for one of our recent Monday Makes (AKA Acorns Craft & Chat). It’s not a combination that would normally spring to mind, that is until you see the paper. There are whimsical gnomes and woodland creatures galore on one side of each of the 12″ x 12″ sheets of paper, and great winter themed images on the other sides.

Gnomes
Storybook Gnomes 12″ x 12″ paper

The card involved creating an aperture on a piece of Basic White card stock. I used a snowflake die for the card made during the zoom but used a punch for my sample card that I shared with the group. Either method works so long as you can add an image or paper in/below the aperture created.

You can see the panel and the image in the aperture better in this side view.

A Stepped Z Fold Card - surprisingly simple to make

Last Monday’s Acorns Craft & Chat involved a Stepped Z Fold Card. Despite it’s look, it is a very simple and fun card to make. The original design is not mine, although I changed the sizing to create a standard UK sized card. You can find the original by Mixed Up Craft, here.

stepped z fold card - fond of autumn

I combined the Fond Of Autumn Bundle (Jul – Dec Mini Catalogue) with the He’s The Man double sided-paper (Annual Catalogue) to create the card. The paper is not one that would normally spring to mind when making an Autumn card. But, the colours in the paper are just right.

To make the focal point for the front of this Stepped Z Fold card

  • Stamp the large image from the Fond of Autumn stamp set twice using Early Espresso ink.
  • Die cut both images using the more intricate of the larger dies – this cuts the image into 4 pieces. These can then be arranged to suit your card.
  • Colour the images you wish to use using Stampin’ Blends. I used Daffodil Delight, Mossy Meadow. Old Olive, and Pumpkin Pie
    • Stamp chosen sentiment from the Fond of Autumn stamp set using Early Espresso ink and the die-cut. I used the Rectangle Stitched Dies.
    • Arrange your images and sentiment on your card front and adhere using Stampin’ Dimensionals and Glue Dots.

The finished Stepped Z Fold Card looks like this when open.

Seas the Day Fun Fold - Latest Monday Makes

The most recent Monday Makes card features the Seas the Day bundle. The fun fold card was surprising quick to construct, it was the decorating that took the time.

Seas the Day
The folded card will fit a C6 (standard) UK envelope

I combined the Seas the Day bundle (Seas the Day stamp set and Sea Dies) with some of the items from the Waves of the Ocean Collection. I love how you can mix and match items from different Stampin’ Up! catalogues. The Waves of the Ocean items used are –

  • Waves of the Ocean 12″ x 12″ double-sided paper, and
  • the Blue Foils 12″ x 12″ specialty paper

I decided not to add any of the Waves Rhinestones because the three different coloured foiled paper (Coastal Cabana, Night of Navy and Silver) added enough shimmer and shine to the card.

The card when folded out and standing looks like this.

Seas the day

The sentiment on the front of the card remains hidden until the card is opened which is a cute trick. The card design is called a “Pop Up Easel Block Card”. The rolled box (the block) at the front being the piece that holds the easel part up. The original card from Sam at Mixed Up Craft was for a 5″ x 7″ card. But, I reworked the size and directions to create a card that would fit into a standard C6 envelope. The design was a huge success with the Acorns and I’m pretty sure that a few of them have gone on to make more.

If you would like to purchase the supplies (or any other items) I used to make this Seas the Day card , either

  • Click on the supply list above to visit my online store, or
  • If you would like me to place your order, email me with the details. I will then be in touch re payment. Please note that payment must be made before the order is placed.

Fabulous Artfully Composed Suite for Monday Makes

This week I used items from the fabulous Artfully Composed Suite (the Artfully Layered Bundle and Artfully Composed double-sided paper) for my Monday Make. Monday Makes, is a weekly team event which is held via zoom. For the past 18 months it has been our way of staying in touch and crafting together. We plan to keep this going for the foreseeable future.

The Artfully Composed suite contains –

  • Artfully Layered Bundle
  • Artfully Composed 12″ x 12″ double-sided paper
  • 12″ x 12″ Vellum
  • Embellishments – White Frayed Ribbon and Faux Glass Shapes
Artfully Composed Suite
Items can be purchased as a whole collection or individually

The primary colours in the Artfully Composed double-sided paper are pictured above. The 12″ x 12″ packs of double-sided paper contain 12 sheets (2 each of 6 different sheets).

At this week’s Monday Makes we made a Triangle Pocket Fun Fold Card. As the name suggests, there is a pocket on the front of the card. This is created by scoring and folding up the two bottom corners. You could also simply glue the corners down but the pocket adds to the surprise. You wil find the cutting and stamping/assembly instructions for the card below.

Cutting Instructions

  1. Calypso Coral Base card – 15.0 x 21.0 cm scored and folded in half at 10.5 cm
  2. Calypso Coral cardstock – 2 pieces each measuring 1.5 x 10.5 cm
  3. Artfully Composed Double-Sided paper – 10.0 x 10.0 cm. If you like both sides then you only need one square, otherwise you need a second square.
  4. Artfullt Composed Double-Sided paper – 3.0 x 14.5 cm
  5. Basic White cardstock – 10.0 x 14.5 cm

Stamping and Assembly Instructions

  1. With the card open (fold running horizontal) use a pencil and ruler to make a mark
    1. 7.5 cm along the bottom edge of the card (in the middle)
    2. 7.5 cm up from both bottom corners.
  2. Score from the centre mark to
    1. the mark on right-hand edge, and
    2. repeat from the centre to the left-hand mark.
  3. Fold back each corner to create a point in the middle of the card front. Burnish both score lines really well with a bone folder.
  4. Diagonally cut the 10.0 x 10.0 cm square of double-sided paper in half.
  5. If you like the reverse side of triangles, cut one in half again. If you don’t, then repeat 4 above with the second square, and then cut one of those triangles in half.
  6. Glue the strips of Calypso Coral card stock to the reverse side of the two triangles. The strips should be glued on the long edges with about 0.25 cm of the card stock showing. Trim off the excess card stock using the two other edges as a guide.
  7. Glue the triangles to the two bottom corners of the piece of Basic White. They should form a point that mirrors the point on the front of the card.
  8. Stamp a sentiment and or image on the Basic White panel, and then glue the panel to the inside of the card.
  9. Adhere the strip of double-sided paper just below the centre scoreline so that it goes across the top of the card front.
  10. Glue the large triangle to the card front – over the folded up corners. These will form the pocket.
  11. Decorate the front of the card as desired. Don’t forget that you can tuck stamped or die-cut images and sentiments into the pocket.

Supply List

My supply list is below. Please note that it shows all the options available for the collection, bundle or individual products.

July Monday Makes with the Acorns - Fun Fold Cards Ideas

It’s time to share the July Monday Makes. For those of you wondering what these are – I hold a team event each Monday where we have a secret project to share. The idea is that no one other than the person who came up with the idea knows what the end project looks like. But that person has to describe how to make it so that we can follow along.

These are the finished projects from July.

Carol shared this first card with us and I also shared it on a Facebook Live. You will also find it and the cutting instructions in a July blog post. Alternatively, click on the picture and it will take you right there.

July Monday Makes - Handbag cards using paper from Stampin' Up!

This second card is one that I shared with the team. The card itself is made from a sheet of the Hand-Penned double-sided paper that’s cut to the same size as a sheet of A4 card stock(21.0 x 29.7 cm). With some scoring, cutting and folding two pockets are created on the front of the card. They are large enough to hold a couple of bookmarks or a small gift and also a decorated piece of Basic White.

I promised to keep the third card of the month much easier. This is another card I’ve shared and there’s also a recording of the Facebook Live. Click on the picture to see the video and you can download a free copy of the printable instruction from the description.

July Monday Makes - Penguin Playmates from Stampin' Up!
Penguin Playmates paper – available during Sale-A-Bration only

Carol shared the instructions for our fourth card of the month. It’s a take on the W Fold card. It looks like a standard card when closed but there’s a surprise when it is opened up.

July Monday Make - front of card using Painted Christmas paper and Stitched So Sweetly Dies from Stampin' Up!
Painted Christmas double-sided paper available from 3 August.
The Words of Cheer stamp set is also available from
3 August

I hope you have enjoyed seeing our July Monday Makes. My plan is to make some easier cards in August, but I guess only time will tell.

Please note that at the time of writing the Hand-Penned paper is on sale with 15% off. This is only valid until 2 August 2021.

If you shop online and your order is less that £150, don’t forget to use August’s host code – XEUYUDTF and receive a thank you gift and card from me.

Spending more than £150, please don’t use the code. You will have your own rewards to spend, which means you can order extra products for free from the current catalogues or clearance rack.

Products for the last two cards will not be available until 3 August. This is when both the July-December Mini Catalogue and the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue go live. If you’d like to know more, check back on 3 August for more details.

June Monday Makes with the Acorns

June Monday Makes with the Acorns were a lot of fun. Some projects we  whizzed through and others even caused  hilarity and confusion. I’m proud to say that we always manage to finish things, albeit sometimes after the fact.

June Monday Makes

Carol shared how to make this Cascade Gate Fold card. This one features the True Love double-sided paper (now retired) and the Daisy Lane stamp set. I’m a huge fan of black and white paper, and it’s a great way to make the colours in your focal point stand out.

June Monday Makes

Although this Peek-A-Boo Slider Card was shared back in June, I decided to include it here too. For more details, click on the picture above.

This Pin-Wheel Tower card was a lot of fun to make and surprisingly simple too. The photo below shows the pinwheel effect. I’ve seen them with four panels like this and six panels too. I’ve not tried making a six panel card. Maybe one for Card & Stamping Techniques later this month or next?

The card features the You’re A Peach 12″ x 12″ double-sided paper, and a sentiment from the Flowers of Friendship stamp set. The two dies come from the Scalloped Contours Die set.

The last card has also been shared before and was a labour of love with all the fussy cutting. I know I shouldn’t complain because it was a card that I talked the Acorns through and no-one made me use this paper to decorate it!

The last three cards above use paper that is in the current Designer Series Paper sale. Details are below.

This month’s collection of cards is coming along nicely. I get to share a fun fold this coming Monday made from a single sheet of double-sided paper. And, on Wednesday I’ll be sharing the instructions for the card that we made this past Monday. I’ll be live on the Oakfield Crafts Facebook page at 3:00 pm (UK time). A supply list will be posted on the page on Tuesday afternoon for those who want to craft along.

Peek-A-Boo Slider Card using the Hand-Penned Suite

This week’s Monday Makes with the Acorns is a Peek-A-Boo Slider Card. I spotted it on Pinterest a few weeks ago, pinned by Tina Zinck (AKA the Serene Stamper). And, thought it would be a good one for us to try!

The front of my finished card looks like this

Peek-A-Boo Slider Card using the Hand-Penned Suite

And, the inside looks like this.

I stamped and die-cut the focal point for the front, while the focal point for the inside is made from just die-cuts. There is also a very brief (just over minute) video that I made which shows the mechanism in action.

The card itself is pretty easy to make – there are only three pieces of cut and scored card stock and three pieces of double-sided paper. Cutting instructions can be found in the description on my video.

Details of the items used to make this Peek-A-Boo Slider card are as follows

Monday Makes with the Acorns

It’s over a year since I started the Monday Makes with the Acorns.  I try to catch up with the team every Monday morning and it’s become something that we all look forward to. It’s a good excuse to have a natter, catch up on things and do some crafting together.

When we started in April 2020 I came up with a fun fold design each week. Everyone chose their own stamps, ink and paper and “simply” followed the verbal instructions.  Each week was a bit of an unknown and it certainly took a few people out of their comfort zone. It’s now come to the point that people volunteer to come up with a design and instructions. Great for me because I then get to chat and craft along with everyone.

We all now have many different styles of cards that we have made over the months,  so I thought I’d share some of my Monday Makes with you.

All of these projects are from March 2021. Some feature products that have now retired and others that will be retiring at the end of June when the Jan-June 2021 Mini Catalogue ends.

Monday Makes - 1 March

Monday Makes - 8 March

Monday Makes - 15 March

The items still available are as follows. Please note that  cardstock (excluding Rococo Rose), ink and Stampin’ Blends are still available. Let me know if you would like the details.
