Fond of Autumn Bundle and an easy Partial Image Technique

I used the Fond of Autumn Bundle in my previous post and decided to use it again for today’s. This time though I’m using the large image from the stamp set.

Fond of Autumn

This card shows the whole image. It’s coloured using Watercolor Pencils and a Water Brush. A fun technique in itself but you do need to let the paper dry before adhering it to the card front. The second card is the one that I really want to share with you.

fond of autumn - finished card

As you can see, I’ve used only the right-hand portion of the image for this card. The dies that coordinate with the stamp set make this so easy to do. There’s no fussy cutting involved when you use the die shown below.

Once you have die-cut the image you can choose which of the four pieces to use on your project. I chose only the one but could have used the two cut out from the left of the image as additional foliage. Maybe next time.

World Watercolour Month - Watercolor Pencil Technique

July is World Watercolour Month and I have a Watercolor Pencil project to share.

World Watercolour Month with Watercolor Pencils and Clear Wink of Stella

The Fond of Autumn stamp set from the July – Dec 2022 Mini Catalogue consists of one banner image, one large image, three smaller images and six sentiments. To create this card, I used the smaller flower image together with the Thank You sentiment. You can see the Clear Wink of Stella sparkle on the Balmy Blue flower below.

World Watercolour Month - Fond of Autumn

I kept the colouring simple by only using three watercolour pencils – Night of Navy, Balmy Blue and Granny Apple Green. All three of these can be found in the Assortment 2 collection of pencils. The edge detailing on each square, is from using the Stylish Shapes Dies. The two Balmy Blue flowers were stamped onto scrap Basic White cardstock and then die-cut. The Night of Navy flower was also stamped onto scrap cardstock but then die-cut using the coordinating die from the Autumn Bouquet Dies.

July-Dec 2022 Catalogue and my favourite sheet of paper

As you are no doubt aware, the July-Dec 2022 Mini Catalogue is now live. One item that caught my attention when I first looked through the catalogue was the Rustic Harvest 12″ x 12″ double-sided paper. There’s one design (you get two of them) that is most definitely my favourite sheet of paper, and tempted me to purchase the paper pack.

Can you guess which design caught my attention?

Given that us Brits are not big on pumpkins, you’ve probably guessed right!

The dramatic black background is a great foil for the other colours – Merry Merlot, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso. The little white butterflies add that little extra interest. To top it all, the paper can easily be chopped up to create six card fronts and any thin strips left over can be used to decorate the inside of the card.

Here’s one of the cards I’ve designed using it.

The Cajun Craze card base has a panel of Crushed Curry adhered to it. On top of that, a panel of the paper was glued. The sentiment and banner both come from the Fond Of Autumn stamp set and they were die-cut using the Autumn Bouquet Dies.

I took the liberty of adding an extra butterfly. This is die-cut from some Basic White using the Brilliant Wings Dies.

Have you ever tried to make a Window Sheet card?

Have you ever tried to make a Window Sheet card? They are great fun and you can use the window sheet (acetate) to create a whole card base or peek through areas in the middle or side.

I shared one of the techniques on a recent Stamping & Creating event and created this card. The card has a peek through area going across the middle of the card and is much easier to make than it looks.

Check out the video below to see how it’s made. The description contains all the cutting instructions for the card.

I’ve created two other cards. The first uses the window sheet to create the card base. A very simple and effective idea.

window sheet card - whole card base

The final card is a variation of the top card. The difference is that

  • I used a Basic Border Die to die-cut the edge of the cardstock and paper
  • I did not add a border to the outside edge.
