Christmas Cheer Card Challenge - WOW

It’s very difficult to express in words how thrilled and touched I am about the results from last weekend’s Christmas Cheer Challenge in aid of the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

My aim this time around (I took part in the two previous challenges) was a lower number of cards than before. Only 300 this time, and thanks to everyone who came along we managed this. Plus a few more.

The event I held was not the only one. There were another 80 odd being held all over the country, split over 3 days.

Cards are still being counted but the last figure I saw was a fabulous 17,500 +. Way more than the 10,000 being aimed for. Hopefully we haven’t shot ourselves in the foot because I have no idea how we can surpass that next year.

Here are a few of the photos taken on the day.

Stampin Up
These were the 4 cards I’d designed for the day

Everyone received sufficient supplies in their kit to make 40 cards and were asked to donate 20 of them to the challenge. Not everyone managed to make 40, but everyone was very generous and gave more than 20 cards.

I found these silly Christmas spectacles in a local shop and everyone wore them for a time. The lenses on mine were covered in green glitter and I really couldn’t see a thing!

Even my dog managed to get in on the act. He spends quite a bit of time in my craft room with me. Not usually on the table though.

Kylo made himself at home sitting on the instructions and my trimmer!

This is what the finished pile of 304 cards looked like before I boxed them all up.

Not all were the same as the ones designed for the day. Once people had done their 20 they had free reign to design their own and some of them helped me to use up some of my scrap designer series paper and card. I also had a few card kits left over so these got made up and added to the pile too. The more the merrier.

I’m pleased to say that everyone had a blast and got to spend the day crafting for a good cause too.  That’s a win win in my book.

Who knows what Stampin’ Up! will have in-store for us next year but I’ll let you know once we find out.

A crazy weekend

It was all go this past weekend. Saturday was the Christmas Party and yesterday it was the turn of Christmas Cheer Card Challenge.

Over the course of seven hours (including time for lunch) we managed to make over 560 cards. I'm taking 535 of these to the Stampin' Up! UK office tomorrow and from there they will be going to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. You are probably wondering where the other 25 cards went. Well, those who came to make the cards were able to take some home with them - not everyone did though.

Here are some of the photos from the day.

Including the three of us organisers (that's Helen, Linda and I), there were sixteen of us making cards throughout the day.

By 11.30 am we had 288 cards made.

There were five basic designs for the cards, but because we were using the fabulous Candy Cane Lane and Presents & Pinecones Designer Series Paper on four of them, there ended by being lots of different variations.

So this is what 535 cards with envelopes look like once they are all boxed up.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped with the making. I hope you enjoyed it, I know that I certainly did.

PS photos of the secret santa cards from Saturday's christmas party will be posted tomorrow.
