WOW Swaps

A couple of weeks ago Natalie put a shout out to all the Stampin' Stars and asked who would be interested in taking part in a WOW Swap. As the name implies, the idea is to make a swap that everyone will say WOW to when they see it. I agreed to take part because I only needed to make 5 of them (including one for me), so in theory it was not too onerous.

This is what I came up with (with a little input from a fellow demo Lesley, who did not go to Convention). I can share it with you now because the swap was due to take place on Thursday evening and this is due to post on Friday morning. At least that's the plan. I took all the parts to Brussels with me and may yet still be sitting in my hotel room putting them together.  I thought it best to do that because I wanted room in my suitcase to take things other than swaps and gifts. Yep, I have more goodies to share with you, just not today.

From the side, the front and back have the same stamped image.

Inside are three chocolate truffles.

I used the Curvy Keepsake Box Die and half a 12" x 12" Window Sheet to make this. Once I had cut out the box (you make two halves and then stick them together), I used White StazOn to stamp images from the Flowering Flourishes Stamp Set.

I'll share the other WOW Swaps once I have had a chance to take photographs of each of them.

The Stampin' Up! products used to make this WOW Swap (at least I think it's a WOW) are:

Chalkboard Technique

Last night I held the first of my monthly technique classes and the chosen one (as can be seen from the title of the post) was the Chalkboard Technique.

The aim of the classes is for everyone to make a  8" x 8" technique page with instructions and sample and then go onto to make a few cards or other projects.

The first class was small, which was great because we were able to chat and play around with different stamp sets while making the sample and projects. I had made a few samples for people to CASe should they want, but everyone was also able to "do their own thing".

The following are the samples that I had made.

Lacy & Lovely - base card is in Baja Breeze

Amazing Family - idea CASed
from Julie Kettlewell/Angie Hutton
and Lorri Heiling. I used Linen Thread
to stop the card from opening too much

Amazing Family from the front, but you can see
that we used the Woodgrain Embossing
Folder to make the card from
Soft Suede card stock.

Artistic Etchings with More Amore DSP and
Primrose Petals card stock
This last card I made in class - yes, I did actually get to make something myself.

From my Heart with Baja Breeze card stock stamped
using Baja Breeze ink and the Flowering
Flourishes stamp set

Stampin' Up! supplies used for the technique:

Card stock : Basic Black
Ink : Whisper White Craft Ink pad or Refill and VersaMark Ink Pad
Stamp set(s) : of your choice
Accessories : Embossing Buddy, White Embossing Powder, Sponge, White uni-ball Signo Gel Pen, Heat Tool, Stampin Trimmer and framelits and punches of your choice

Next month the Technique Class is the Stained Glass Effect. Let me know if you are interested in coming. Spaces will be limited as I would like to keep these classes small (max 6).
