Thinking outside the box for a colour challenge

The latest Crafty Collaborations colour challenge blog hop had me thinking outside the box. First thoughts on seeing the colours is trees, but I really didn’t want to go that route. When you see the colours you’ll know what I mean!

I had the Framed Florets Bundle and Fitting Florets paper sitting on my craft desk from another project. So, I decided to attempt to make a new project using them. So glad that I did. I have a few December birthdays to make for and I think that my Mum will really like this card.

I made use of the Soft Succulent paper as a background for the frame. The flower images were coloured using a mixture of both Stampin’ Blends (Soft Succulent) and Watercolor Pencils (Early Espresso and Garden Green). Of course I also had to add a touch of Clear Wink of Stella and used that as the medium for painting with the watercolour pencils.

Both the frame and the bough of flowers have been added using Stampin’ Dimensionals (foam pads). The inside was stamped using one of the smaller flower images and only the centre has been coloured (Early Espresso Watercolor pencil and Clear Wink of Stella).

I did fill the top of the die-cut flowers with lots of stems – a great way to use up scraps. As you can see, there are mostly Garden Green and Early Espresso ones, but there are a couple of Soft Succulent ones thrown in for good measure.

The Fitting Florets Collection is now available.

From time to time Stampin’ Up! release a new collection of products that will feature in a forthcoming catalogue. The Fitting Florets Collection is one such release. The collection includes the following. Each items can be purchased individually or as a complete collection.

Please note that the Fitting Florets paper, Framed & Festive stamp set and the Gold Adhesive Backed Swirls are only available until 4 Jan 2023. What’s more, these three items are only available on a while supplies basis.

The paper is gorgeous. There are images that can be die-cut but it’s quite easy to fussy cut them too. The reverse sides have great patterns that can be used for all sorts of occasions.

Monday Makes with Gnomes and Snowflakes

I used the Storybook Gnomes paper and the Joyful Flurry Bundle for one of our recent Monday Makes (AKA Acorns Craft & Chat). It’s not a combination that would normally spring to mind, that is until you see the paper. There are whimsical gnomes and woodland creatures galore on one side of each of the 12″ x 12″ sheets of paper, and great winter themed images on the other sides.

The card involved creating an aperture on a piece of Basic White card stock. I used a snowflake die for the card made during the zoom but used a punch for my sample card that I shared with the group. Either method works so long as you can add an image or paper in/below the aperture created.

You can see the panel and the image in the aperture better in this side view.
