Something Borrowed Wedding Cards

It's April, which means that it's Spring and that the main wedding season will soon be upon us. Although I don't have any weddings to go to on my calendar I thought I would make a couple of cards just in case.

The Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper makes wonderful wedding cards because the neutral Sahara Sand co-ordinates with so many colours. With 12 sheets (4 each of 3 double sided sheets) it means that it goes a long way too.

I made both of the following cards using Whisper White, Sahara Sand and Coastal Cabana card stock. The greeting stamped in Sahara Sand ink comes from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set and the flowers were made using the Petite Petals Punch and one of the punches from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.

A great card for using up scraps

so you get more from a sheet with no waste

Each of the flowers were finished with a small pearl from a sheet of Basic Pearls.

These were quick and easy to make and both could be changed into wedding invitations, thank you cards and even anniversary cards by simply changing the sentiment.

The options are endless as you can also simply change the coloured card stock from Coastal Cabana to something more in keeping with the wedding colours.

A little late

I was going to share this with you yesterday but time got away from me.

This is the card that I made my Mum for Mother's Day. I know that she looks at this blog on occasions so it is probably better that I post the photo a little late.

I started by stamping the greeting in Blackberry Bliss and then stamped the leaves from the Painted Petals stamp set in Wild Wasabi, to frame the greeting.

The flowers themselves are punched from some scraps of Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper using both the Petite Petals and a punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. Some of the flowers have both shapes and others simply the smaller one from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. The whole thing is of course finished off with some Basic Rhinestones.

You Brighten My Day - Day 6

Today's post features the last of the 6 stamp sets that are available as part of Sale-A-Bration 2015.

The You Brighten My Day stamp set (available in wood mount and clear mount) has 9 stamps and 5 of them co-ordinate with various punches.

Here's the cards that I've made so far with the stamp set.

I love this little heart stamp. It co-ordinates with the heart from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. The card also features the new Happy Heart Textured Impressions Embossing Folder that is available in the Spring/Summer 2015 Catalogue. I think that this card would make a cute Valentines card or a card for a Wedding.

This card features 2 stamps that I mounted together on my acrylic block.  The image on the Whisper White circle was stamped using Momento Ink while the ones on the card base were stamped in Smoky Slate - the same colour as the card base. The whole thing is mounted on a circle of Smoky Slate and a scallop circle of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.

The light bulb was coloured using both Smoky Slate and Daffodil Delight Blendablities.

This last card was made using the little house stamp. The stamp co-ordinates with the What's Up Punch. I don't have the punch so had to fussy cut it, but it's pretty easy as it's all straight lines. I have to admit that I broke a rule with this card as I used a second stamp set. The greeting comes from the And Many More stamp set.

I coloured the house using the Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral Blendabilities.

Tomorrow is the last of the 7 posts featuring Sale-A-Bration items. Don't worry it won't be the last one, but after that I will be featuring more of the items from the Spring/Summer Catalogue.

Totally missed it...

Things got a little busy this past weekend and before I knew it, I had missed the deadline for the Freshly Made Sketches # 148  card challenge that I had intended to take part in.

http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.co.uk/2014/08/sketch-148-sketch-by-jen-m.html

This is the card that I made but never got to post on the challenge web-site.  I guess that it's just one of those things.

There are so many challenges out there on the internet that it is hard to keep track of them all. I've decided to keep a notebook of all the ones that I like. That way, should I miss a deadline or can't remember what web-site I saw it on (the more likely problem) I can refer to it and also use it for another time. I could of course just simply pin them to a board on Pinterest but sometimes it's just nice to have something in a book to refer to.

Here's details of all the products I used to make the card.

I have to admit that I thought that I liked the blank space on the centre square of the sketch, but when I had made the card there just seemed to be something missing. Because of this,  I decided to add some more of the stamped and punched flowers in that blank space. In case you hadn't quite noticed (probably my poor photography) the flowers are Hello Honey ink stamped onto Hello Honey card stock.

I used the markers to ink up the stamp for this card - it's much simpler to use these when you have multiple colours on one stamp but you don't want to add layers. I obviously did not ink up the pot part of the stamp sufficiently as it looks a little blotchy but I liked this effect and decided to go with it rather than re-ink and re-stamp.

It started with

a challenge. I was blog hopping yesterday and came across a challenge that took my fancy. I somehow also managed to loose a few hours in the process (no idea how that happened), and that was just the blog hopping!

I found the challenge on the Clean & Simple blog, and it was to use a large sentiment.

http://cleanandsimplestamping.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/300.html

I made what I thought to be a clean and simple card that meets the criteria, and this was what I came up with.

I did think that it looked too simple, so I then took it a stage further and made a stepped up version.

There are no winners for this challenge, it's just fun to take someone's basic idea and put your own spin on it.

The final count down - Sneak Peek 5

I'm getting really excited that we are now only just over a week away from the release of the new Annual Catalogue. It would be very remiss of me, however, not to mention that the retiring items in the current catalogue will only be available for another week. Things usually get sold out during the last week so don't miss out.

As part of the new Annual Catalogue release I will be taking part in the Stampin' Stars blog hop, but in the meantime here's another sneak peek of project that I have made.

I've used a number of new items on this project. Namely:

Work of Art stamp set
Something to Say stamp set (the heart)
Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey ink
Lost Lagoon Stitched Satin Ribbon
Lost Lagoon card stock
Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack
Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack

Other items used include:

Basic Grey card stock
Scalloped Tag Topper Punch
Whisper White Baker's Twine

The blog hop will be going live on 1 July at 9.00 am so please don't forget to check back then. I'll be posting more before then though.
