August's Crafty Challenge Blog Hop with He's The Man

Today I’m taking part in August’s Crafty Challenge Blog Hop. You will find the list and link to all the other demonstrators taking part further down this post.

Our starting inspiration is a sketch, but of course it does not need to be copied 100%.

I opted to turn the sketch 90°, and have the long panel running from top to bottom.

The double-sided paper and die-cuts are from the He’s The Man 12″ x 12″ pack of specialty paper.

In fact, there’s no stamping on the card at all. The inside is simply decorated with a strip of the paper that has been coloured using a dark Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blender Pen.

Acorns Craft & Chat Fun Fold with the Merriest Moments Bundle

Monday mornings usually start with an Acorns Craft & Chat. We spend a couple of hours together on Zoom making a card. I try to make it a fun fold but sometimes we try a sketch or colour challenge. This week we had a Floating card to make.

For my card I chose to use the Merriest Moments Bundle and the Painted Christmas 12″ x 12″ paper. Both of these are returning favourites from the 2021 July – December Catalogue.

The finished card looks like a square gate-fold card. The fun is inside.

The square panels pop out when you open the card, and then lie flat when the card is closed. The panel on the front was created using the Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder (dies and embossing folder). This comes as part of the bundle along with the Merriest Moments stamp set.

I’ve found that the trick is to die-cut using the large outline die, and then place the die-cut in the embossing folder and emboss it. The detail from the embossing folder is fabulous and I love that the rectangular centre piece is left plain. You can then add a stamped sentiment which can be die-cut using the stitched rectangle that comes as part of the same die set.

Introducing the Perfectly Penciled Card & A Cuppa kit

This week I held the first of August’s Card & A Cuppa sessions. There are four cards to share made using the Perfectly Penciled Card & A Cuppa kit.

As you can see from above, the kit contains a Sweet Sorbet base card and also rectangular pieces of cardstock and the Perfectly Penciled 12″ x 12″ paper. I love this black & white paper, there’s no need to colour it. But, if you do want to, you have a choice of colouring the whole piece or simply picking out an element to highlight.

Three pre-made cards went with me to Card & A Cuppa. Then, in the afternoon I made a fourth one live on Facebook. As well as the kit, I used the Charming Sentiments stamp set and coordinating Sentiment Silhouettes Dies. The dies take the stress out of having to fussy cut around each sentiment.

Second Blog Hop of the Week - Sale-A-Bration

Today, I’m taking part in my second blog hop of the week. This time we are sharing inspiration using items from the current Sale-A-Bration.

You’ll find the complete list (with links) of all those taking part further down this post.

When I first saw the current Sale-A-Bration brochure I immediately fell in love with the Hippest Hippos stamp set. This is because they reminded me of a Disney film (movie) that I saw when I was quite young. I would hasten to add that it had been out for over 20 years when I saw it! The movie, Fantasia, is set to classical music and the section that came flooding back to me is the part set to the Dance of the Hours where Hyacinth Hippo plays the prima ballerina.

Inspired by the film, this is the card that I came up with.

The addition of the umbrellas was inspired by my own ballet lessons. For one exam, we had to dance with a bird cage (made by my mum). No birdcages in the Hippest Hippos stamp set so it’s umbrellas using the coordinating dies (Hippo Dies) for the card!

A stunning Fun Fold card with the Splendid Day Suite

Today I sharing a stunning fun fold card for the Technique Tuesday Blog Hop.

You will find the list of blog participants (with links) further down this post. I hope you take a moment to sit back, relax and check out all the inspiration.

I enjoy making fun fold cards, particularly those that look really complicated but in reality are fairly simple. This is one such card.

I’m not really sure what this fold is called – underneath the sliding front panels is a double gate fold. Triple Panel Double Gate Fold card is a bit of a mouthful! The card fits neatly into a standard C6 envelope and looks like this when partly open.

When fully open you can see the inside panel for writing a message. Mine is decorated, you just can’t see the image because of the angle of the photo.
