Case Colours & Sketches - Challenge # 220

Being the fourth (and last) week of the month, Bev has a sketch for us. This is the last one for this month and I have to say that I've loved all four ideas that Bev has come up with.

Here is this week's sketch that we have to play with.

Case Colours & Sketches - Challenge # 219

April is rolling by and not a sign of any April showers either. A few grey skies but as I write this I am enjoying a warm sunny morning.

This is Bev's third week for setting the challenges and she has the following colour one for us.

Last Minute Reminder

Sale-A-Bration ends on Friday, and being close to the end things are going fast. At the time of writing, the Glimmer Paper, Seaside Embossing Folder and the Sparkle Embossing Folder are no longer available.

If you can't figure out what you want in your £45 order, how about stocking up on the 2015-2017 In Color products that will be retiring on 31 May 2017?

Busy, busy, busy

On Saturday, I held my first ever All Occasion Stamp-a-stack.  Oh my, what fun we had.

There was a choice of 15 cards and everyone got to choose 10. That bit took a little while as people couldn't make up their minds straight away. They then made 2 each of the 10 cards which meant that they made 20 cards in total.

Everything was packaged up (inc envelopes). The cardstock and paper had been pre-cut to make life for those attending a little easier.  Carol, one of my lovely downlines had helped me cut all the cardstock, which is just as well because we pre-cut over 200 cards. I suspect that we might still be there if those attending had to cut up everything themselves.

This is just a peek of 5 of the cards
Everyone who came (and the two people having kits) received one of these.

I used the 2015-2017 In Color Envelope Paper to make little packages to hold a chocolate bar (KitKat bar)

Each package was made using a 15 cm x 15 cm piece of the paper, and the Envelope Punch Board. The paper was scored at 5.7 cm and 7.1 cm on the first side and then I used the guide and the scored lines on the remaining 3 sides.

I used the 2015-2017 In Color Dotted Lace Ribbon to hold the packs closed (with a little help from some Snail).

This is one of the card options. It was made using the Welcome Words stamp set from the 2016 Spring/Summer Catalogue. Sadly, this set is on the Retirement List.

Details of the products used to make this card are as follows:

If you are interested in purchasing any of these (or other) products don't forget to use this month's Hostess Code when you check out. This month it is DBR9E649.

Exploding Box (or Box in a Box) with matching Card

I'm not really sure if you would call this a true exploding box as it doesn't exactly explode. I've seen people call it a box in a box and also an origami box. But it's not really an origami box either as you need to glue it together. Either way, I think it's cute and thought I'd share it with you today. I did of course also make a card to go with it.

This is the box (on right) and card. The gold doily is the same size on both items. The angle on the card must be
slightly different from the box and that makes them look different.

The box is held shut with some Blackberry Bliss Striped Cotton Ribbon.

The opened box. I opted to decorate the inside too, but you really
don't need to do that.

I kept the card simple with the same ribbon
and Gold Doily

A quick look at the inside. The greeting comes from
the Happy Happenings stamp set
The box was made from a sheet of 12" x 12" Hello Honey card stock and I also used a 12" x 12" sheet of the Farmer's Market Designer Series paper to decorate the box. I simply used my Stampin' Trimmer to make all the score lines and the cuts for the box, and once I'd figured it out it was easy to put together. I will be writing a tutorial for the box and adding that to my tutorials page in the next couple of weeks. I'll let you know once the page has been updated.

I used exactly the same colour card stock and designer series paper and I added a Blackberry Bliss scallop circle under the stamped and punched greeting.

Birthday Blossoms - Card and Box

This is the last of this week's posts featuring the Birthday Blossoms stamp set. This time around I have made a card with a matching box.

The box measures 4" x 4" x 1" and can fit small cards or a small gift in. I've made quite a few of these boxes over the years and have no idea who to give credit to as the original seems to have been lost over the years. I just know it as a mini pizza box. If you know the name of the originator please let me know. I've been making these since 2012 so I am guessing that the original must pre-date that.

The box only requires one sheet of A4 card stock that is cut to 6" x 11" before it's scored, folded, snipped and stuck together. There is now a tutorial for it on my Tutorials page. Of course you can decorate the box as you wish but for this one I chose to pair the Birthday Blossoms and the Petite Petals stamp sets.

Here's a close up of the card and box by themselves.

I like to decorate my envelopes and of course the inside of the card is too

I figured that it does not matter if the flowers over hang the edges a little.
The ribbon and "medallion" slip off the box so you can open it.
The tutorial has a full list of the supplies used, but the full information is also below. Please note that I have shown both the Bundle and Non Bundle Options and also Wood and Clear Mount Options.

Have fun making your own boxes. I would love to see some of them, so feel free to post photos in the comments section.

Masked Birthday Blossoms

Today I am sharing the second card that I made using the Birthday Blossoms stamp set.

For this card I used the Masking technique to stamp the flowers and leaves on the front of the card.

Apologies for the shadow on the card. Problems with lighting.

The masking technique is quite simple to do. All you need is a pad of post-it-notes and a pair of scissors. Although the flower in the Birthday Blossoms co-ordinates with the Pansy Punch I chose to fussy cut the flowers out. The reason being the punch is slightly larger than the flower stamp itself and I did not want to leave a blank space when stamping over the mask. I have a couple of quick tips to share:
  • Make sure that part of the shape you are cutting out includes part of the sticky strip. This sticky part will then hold the mask on the card stock and your hands are free to hold the stamp.
  • Stamp the image once onto the top sheet of a pile of 3 - 4 post-it notes and cut them all out at the same time. You only have to fussy cut once if you do this.
I started by stamping three flowers (top, middle and bottom) onto the Whisper White card stock and then placed the post-it note masks on top of these and then stamped more flowers. I then worked from the top downwards putting the masks on the flowers and stamping the leaves in Cucumber Crush ink.

The greeting was stamped in Watermelon Wonder and then punched out using the Decorative Label Punch. I then punched out two more Decorative Labels from Watermelon Wonder card stock. Cut them in half (one along the long length and the other across the shorter one) and snipped a few of the points off where the labels had been cut in half. These cut labels are then glued to the underside of the greeting so that it looks like the greeting is sitting on a slightly larger label.

To CASE or not to CASE

There seems to be a bit of a dispute going on at the moment about CASEing (Copy and Share Everything). Some people say it's not right and others like me say it's a good thing and should be encouraged but only so long as credit is given to the person whose project is being CASEd.

Anyway, last weekend I set a challenge to a group of demonstrators to pick a project in the Annual Catalogue and CASE it. Although CASE means to Copy and Share Everything, people always have the option to do a direct copy or alter it a little or a lot.

Here's the card that I chose to CASE.

I don't have the same punches and paper in my possession at the moment so I opted to alter mine. Hopefully you can still see the influence of the original.

I used Mint Macaron and Tip Top Taupe ink and card stock. The flower
itself is actually Tip Top Taupe stamped onto the same colour card.

This is another slightly different variation and it's probably closer to the original in the catalogue because I used some Gold Metallic Thread on it.

Very Vanilla card stock and Sahara Sand ink was used for this card. The
Gold Foil Vellum in the centre was pushed using a 7/8' Scallop Circle.

My last variation. For this card I used Stampin' Write markers to ink the stamp. That way I was able to pick out the sentiment that I wanted to highlight in a different colour.

I used Mint Macaron and Tip Top Taupe Stampin' Write Markers to stamp
the image and Mint Macaron ink for the flower.

I certainly enjoyed making these and I hope you like them.

A Punch(es) Creative Challenge

Stamping' Up! have set demonstrators a Creative Challenge for June. The Challenge is to make a project using at least two out of four specified punches and to then pin the project to Pinterest using the hashtag #punchitup.

The punches to be used are the Pansy Punch (Item No. 130698), the Hearts Border Punch (Item. No. 133784), the Fun Flower Punch (Item No. 133785) and the Sweetheart Punch (Item No. 133786).

Well, I made a project but boy have I had problem taking a photograph of it. Flash on, flash off, photograph it inside, photograph it outside. I have tried everything, but just can't get rid of the reflections. I know the obvious thing would be to take the glass out and believe me I've tried but it's nailed into the frame!  Anyway, this is what I've made using two of the punches.

I used card stock and ink in the new 2015-2017 In Colors and a Stampin' Write Marker too. Here's a close up of the flowers in more detail.

I used the Pansy and the Fun Flower Punches but stamped the flowers using the co-ordinating stamp sets first. The Pansy Punch co-ordinates with the Flower Shop (available as a Bundle with a 15% saving) and the Fun Flower Punch co-ordinates with both the Beautiful Bunch stamp set and the Bloom for You single stamp. I used the Bloom for You single stamp.

Each of the flowers were stamped in 2015-2017 In Color inks onto the corresponding card stock and I added some 2015-2017 In Color Bloom Accents. Just so you know, they don't come with rhinestones in the centre - I added these for extra effect.

Once all the flowers were stamped, punched and glued together I then glued them to a piece of Tip Top Taupe 12" x 12" Envelope Paper. There were a couple of dry runs before I was happy with the arrangement.

To finish off the whole thing I added a greeting from the Oh My Goodies stamp set and cut if out using the Deco Labels Collection Framelits. I cut a larger label in Tip Top Taupe just to finish it off and add more depth.

I'm really pleased with the way the picture turned out and it looks great hanging on the wall in my craft room.

Open House and all that

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Open House last weekend. I hope you had fun doing the Make 'n' Take and browsing through the new catalogue as well as checking all the retired stamp sets that you could get as part of my Buy One Get One Free promotion.

You could say that this was the calm before the storm. It certainly got a little busy down in my craft room later on in the day.

Some of my retired stamp sets that I had for sale. There were other things too such as card stock, dies and ink pads.

My display board with some of the cards that I had made. You will have seen a couple of them on this blog - but not all.

Everyone who came received a bookmark that I had made featuring the new 2015-2017 In Colors.  Has anyone figured out what their favourite one it yet? One of these will also be going out in the catalogues that are being posted to people today.

The Make 'n' Take was a stepped up version of one of the swaps I took to Telford with me.

Everyone could choose from making a card with a Watermelon Wonder (on left) or Cucumber Crush (on right) card base and they also had a choice of adding either a bird or apple. The stamp set is the Sprinkles of Life stamp set which has 22 stamps in it, including the apple and bird. All the envelopes and insides of the cards were decorated too.

I'm pretty certain that a couple of those Make 'n' Takes were being sent as birthday cards in the very near future.

My Make 'n' Take box already to go with pre-cut card stock

Just so you know, there is a co-ordinating Tree Builder Punch so there was no need for me to fussy cut the small apples or birds (thank goodness).

I did however prepare all the apples and birds ahead of time. It was quite simple to do. I stamped and then punched each bird or apple out and then stuck them to a strip of glue dots. Once they were adhered to the strip I covered each bird or apple with Crystal Effects to make them all glossy and left them to dry for a few hours.

It was then simply a matter of pealing one of a strip and adding it to the card to finish it off.

In with the New, but Big News it's a Cross Over Day - Final Sneak Peek No. 9

Tomorrow is a big day, and I'm doing a happy dance because I will finally be able to post the link to the new Annual Catalogue.

I'm sure you know by now, that tomorrow is the release day for the 2015-2016 Annual Catalogue, but did you know that for tomorrow only you can also order from the 2014-2015 Annual Catalogue, the Spring/Summer Catalogue and the Retirement List? This mega option is only available tomorrow until 10.50 pm (UK time).

Other than the new Catalogue there is another piece of news to share with you for tomorrow. Anyone joining Stampin' Up! in June (from tomorrow ) will be able to choose 2 extra stamp sets (of any value) in addition to the normal £130 worth, and you still only pay £99.  That's potentially an extra £87 worth of stamps for free (if you go for the most expensive wood mount stamp sets). I don't as yet have all the details but will post full information as soon as I am able - hopefully tomorrow. I will also be sending out information in my newsletter. Click on the link on the left to subscribe to my newsletter so you don't miss out on any important news.

Last week was most definitely a week of birthdays. I have already shared the card that I made for Carol but here are a couple of other birthday cards that I made and gave to people.

I made this card for Diane using two of the new 2015-2017 In Colors,  Mint Macaron and Tip Top Taupe. The doily images come from the Petal Potpourri stamp set that is in the Spring/Summer Catalogue, and the greeting comes from the Build a Birthday stamp set which is in the new catalogue.

The second card was made for my sister Helen, and it features the Build a Birthday stamp set, the Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack and the 2015-2017 In Colors. I'm sure you can guess by now what my favourite new colours are!!

I added one of the 2015-2017 In Color Blossom Accents to the stamped cake stand image and also a Basic Rhinestone to the centre to compliment the rhinestones on the flags.

At the moment I'm busy getting ready for my Catalogue Release Open House this coming Saturday, and have been making lots of projects for people to check out (they will be on my display board). I've also been making a little gift to go in each of the goody bags and of course cutting all the card stock and paper for the Make 'n' Takes. I can't share the Make 'n' Take just yet but will share some other new things tomorrow. I can't wait.

Happy Birthday - Sneak Peek No. 8

Yesterday was my lovely downline Carol's birthday. I made her a card last week and then promptly forgot to post it to her, doh.  Luckily she lives quite close to where I live, so I popped out last night and dropped it off to her.

It does mean that it's now safe to share the card that I made her using the Sprinkles of Life stamp set. This is the 2015-2016 Ronald McDonald House Charity stamp set, and £2.00 from every stamp set sold will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charity (RMHC) here in the UK. This has to be the cutest RMHC stamp set so far.

Sprinkles of Life, Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack and 2015-2017 In Colors - all available from 2 June
I love that you can make trees, baskets of flowers, cupcakes, ice creams and clouds. I'm sure that Pinterest will have lots of other ideas on it too once people are able to get their hands on the set.

I even decorated the envelope, because let's face it, you can't send/give a naked envelope.

The little apple on the tree is also one of the stamps in the set (there is a little bird too). I stamped the apple onto Watermelon Wonder card stock using the same colour ink. Once I punched out the apple (using the co-ordinating Tree Builder Punch) I stuck it onto a glue dot and then used some Crystal Effects on it to make it all shiny. The glue dot is a great tip because it holds the apple in place while the crystal effects dries and then it makes it easy to glue the finished apple onto the tree.

This is the tree close up. Hopefully you can see how shiny the apple is. I have 20 of these apples and 20 of the birds to make for the Open House make 'n' take. Luckily they don't take too long, it's just the drying of the crystal effects that takes awhile. If you are interested in popping along on 6 June drop me a line.

A few new products - Sneak Peek No. 7

I hope you have been having a great Bank Holiday weekend. I'm home alone at the moment which means that I have lots of peace and quiet in which to craft. I've been making the most of it, as I have a whole board to fill with new projects to showcase the new Annual Catalogue.  I know I have a couple more weeks before my Open House (6 June) but time has a habit of disappearing in this household,  so I have been keeping myself busy by making a few things.

This is just one of them. Made using a few new products - You're So Sweet stamp set, Envelope Paper and the new Neutrals Colour Collection Designer Series Paper. I also used the new Banner Triple Punch.

I made the packaging for the card using the Mini Treat Bag Framelit Dies and also the new Envelope Paper in the 2015-2017 In Colors. The Envelope Paper (20 sheets of 12" x 12" paper) will also be available in a Neutrals pack (Whisper White, Very Vanilla and Kraft) come 2 June.

There are four banners on the front of the envelope. The top most banner was stamped and cut out by hand. The bottom three banners (Whisper White, Mint Macaron and one using the Neutrals Colour Collection Designer Series Paper) are strips that I had cut and then punched using the Banner Triple Punch (it will cut strips that are 2.5 cm, 3.8 cm and 5.1 cm in width).

The You're So Sweet stamp set has 9 images but I've only used the banner on for this project. The banner along with the star and heart co-ordinate with some of the dies that come with the Mini Treat Bag Framelit Dies.

I'm not afraid to admit it, but I am totally in love with the Neutrals Colour Collection Designer Series Pack. The designs are new (dots, stripes, flowers and script) and there are 40 sheets of double sided paper, including silver and gold metallic ink. I used one of the silver sheets for this project.  It's not a shiny metallic so it gives a lovely subtle effect.

I think that this project would make a great card/gift for a wedding or anniversary and the sentiment could easily be changed if you want to make more of these for invitations.

For more information about my Open House please check out the details on the Events & Classes page.

Gifts for Telford - Sneak Peek No. 6

I'm always looking around for things that I can decorate to give as gifts to people. Last week while shopping in the local supermarket I came across some large notebooks. I thought that they would make great downline gifts for the ladies travelling with me to Telford.

I used the Bohemian Designer Series Paper that will be available come 2 June together with the You're So Sweet stamp set. The greeting was stamped in Delightful Dijon which is one of the new In Colors. There was a little bit of fussy cutting going on, although the Mini Treat Bag Dies will fit this particular stamp  (but you loose the outer part of the frame). Hence the fussy cutting.

I went one step further by using the co-ordinating Bohemian Washi Tape to decorate some pens.

I decorated enough pens so that I have a small supply to leave out in classes. People like to make notes on their grid paper during class of the card mat sizes and colours.

At the moment I'm busy making lots of projects to go on my display board so that I have lots of things to show people at the 6 June Open House. Don't forget to drop me a line if you intend to stop by.

Starting next week I will be sharing photos of the products I'm using for the projects so you will get the full sneak peek of what's available. Don't forget to check back to see what I've been up to.

As busy as a bee - Sneak Peek No. 3

I've been busy these past few days with all my preparation for this coming weekend. On Friday (tomorrow) I'm driving up to Telford to meet with over 300 other Stampin' Up! demonstrators, at our Regional Training Event. I might add that I'm not travelling with all 300+ people,  just 3 of my downlines.

One of the things we are asked to take with us, is a name tag which has made by ourselves. With all the other things I had to do such as swaps and downline gifts I was tempted to use one from a previous year, but to be honest it's not quite the done thing, and in any event it's looking a little sad and sorry for itself. As a result I thought I'd make one using some of my new goodies (any excuse to play really).

This is what I came up with using some dies from the Deco Labels Collection Framelits and also the Little Letters Thinlits.

Mint Macaron, Watermelon Wonder and Tip Top Taupe card stock
Cucumber Crush, Watermelon Wonder and Delightful Dijon accents
Delightful Dijon ink

You can't tell too clearly from the photo, but I used two new embellishments,  some lace trim and the flowers. The flowers are really cute and don't come with rhinestones in the middle, I added these myself, using some Multipurpose Glue, for a little bling.

Here's a photo of some of the goodies that I used.

I'm loving the lace trim and the flowers. There are five new 1" Dotted Lace Trims (each of the new In Colors) and the pot of 2015-2017 In Color Blossom Accents contains 20 flowers (4 each of the 5 colours). Please note that although the pile of card stock includes some Delightful Dijon I did not use this or the Cucumber Crush card stock either.  I did however use some Delightful Dijon ink for the butterflies (which come for the Kinda Eclectic stamp set).

It's arrived - Sneak Peek No 1. of the 2015-2016 Annual Catalogue

Mr Brown visited my house yesterday and left a pile of Stampin' Up! boxes for me.

I would love to say that all four boxes were filled with sneak peek products, sadly not. Three of them were filled with fabulous 2015-2016 Catalogues . These are for me to give to customers at my Open House on 6 June (details of which are on my Events & Classes page - see tab above). If you can't make it to the Open House please email me your details and I will pop a FREE copy in the post to you after 8 June.

In the meantime, here's a peek of the front cover of the catalogue. There are some fabulous new products on the front cover and I'm already planning a class with them.

One of the goodies that I was able to pre-order was the  2015-2017 bundle of In Color Ink Pads and Card Stock. I'm sure that some of you have already seen photos out on the internet, but officially we are not supposed to share details until we have then in our hands. Here are my lovely new ink pads.

I love the names for this year's colours - Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe, Delightful Dijon, Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush. I haven't picked a favourite as yet, but there are a couple of contenders.

Well, that's it for today's sneak peek. I'll be back again soon with another.
