Happy Birthday Michael

Yesterday was my son's 18th Birthday. As promised here's a photo of the birthday card that I made him.

I used the Clockworks stamp set together with the Typeset Alphabet Bigz dies. I decided that because it was for an 18th birthday that I would put the clock hands at 1 and 8 - not that anyone in the family noticed! The clock hands is one stamp so I had to ink each hand with a marker and use my trusty Stamp-a-ma-Jig to make sure I had them in the right place.

Stampin' Up! supplies used:

Stamp Set : Clockworks
Card Stock : Naturals Ivory, Island Indigo, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla
Ink : Island Indigo, Pool Party, Crumb Cake
Accessories : Typeset Alphabet Bigz dies, Stamp-a-ma-Jig and Dimensionals

As well as it being Michael's birthday it was also the second day of the Make It show. I haven't quite figured out if it was as busy as Friday because I did sneak off a little early. I have to say though, there were some Make and Takes left but that could be because yesterday's took a little longer to make than Friday's.

Here's a photo of Friday's and Saturday's Make and Takes.

Friday's
Saturday's - original design by Kerry Timms
Yesterday's had a little more cutting out, punching and tying of bows so it took a little longer than Friday's. Maybe that is why we did not do so many.

There will be a completely different one today!

Variation on a theme

A week ago I posted a photo of one of the cards that I made as part of the training kit that I had received.  I liked the card so much that I decided to CASe it and make something similar for my sister-in-law's birthday. If you are interested in seeing the original card please click on this link - Spring/Summer Sneak Peak.

I changed out a few things but essentially it is the same basic card.

This time around, I mounted the Soft Suede card stock onto a Naturals Ivory card base. Changed out the greeting and also added some basic pearls. The other thing was that I used up the last Very Vanilla doily from the Delicate Doilies Sizzlit. I used the other two smaller ones on the card I made for the recent challenges that I entered (please scroll down to see the previous post if you are interested).

The Stampin' Up! supplies used are

Stamp set : Madison Avenue*, Bloomin' Marvelous* and Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Card stock : Naturals Ivory, Very Vanilla and Soft Suede
Paper : Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper*
Ink : Soft Suede, Summer Starfruit, Pink Pirouette and Rose Red
Accessories : Delicate Doilies Sizzlet, Designer Builder Brad**, Paper Doilies**, Pink Pirouette/Rose Red Two Tone Ribbon**, Basic Pearls, Stamp-a-ma-jig

* Available as part of Sale-A-Bration. One FREE item for each £45 spent on current products.
** Available from the Spring/Summer Seasonal Catalogue so only available until 30 June.

I gave Mandy the card yesterday and she loved it, thank goodness. She comes from Zimbabwe and they don't tend to send cards there so she loves any cards that she does receive.

Baggie Books with a Spring/Summer Sneak Peek

I thought I'd share with you the Baggie Books that I've now finally managed to complete. As you can see from the photo below they are all now bagged up and labelled.  For those of you coming to the Make It and Stitch It Show in March will be able to see them for yourself.

There are 20 cards in totally made using most of the items available as part of this year's Sale-A-Bration. Some of the cards also have a few things on them from the Spring/Summer Catalogue that is available from 1 February. Here's one such card.

Don't forget the Blog Hop on Friday but I'll be posting another project tomorrow so don't forget to check back.

Card from Training

OK, so today's post is a bit of a cheat as it's a card that I did not design but one that I should have made at training last weekend. I would have posted it this week anyway so I guess no harm done.

Natalie O'Shea designed 20 cards for us to make at team training and those of us who can't make this coming weekend's rescheduled day have had a kit sent to them.  I'm not going as I have a really early morning start - I have to take my daughter to her SAT test for US University entrance. Then it's a mad dash home as I have a class of 10 lovely ladies coming to make some projects.

Anyway, I digress. Natalie, bless her, had pre-cut all the card stock in the kit so all I've had to do is stamp images, punch and pierce shapes and then put the card fronts together! I have so far completed 12 out of the 20 (not bad going in two days) but we were meant to complete all 20 in the one day. The aim is to put all the cards together in what we call baggie books.  I made something similar last year and they are a great idea to show off how versatile the Sale-A-Bration products are.

My favourite card so far has to be the following

The card features both the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper and the Madison Avenue stamp set.  There is a third and fourth Sale-A-Bration item - the Island Indigo ribbon is part of the Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack and the greeting comes from the Bloomin' Marvelous stamp set.

The Stampin' Up! products used are

Stamp sets : Madison Avenue* and Bloomin' Marvelous*
Card stock/Designer Series Paper : Island Indigo, Summer Starfruit, Certainly Celery and Whisper White. Sycamore Street DSP*
Ink : Island Indigo, Summer Starfruit and Raspberry Ripple
Accessories : Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch, Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack, Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack*, Subtles Brads, Subtles Glimmer Brads and Mini Brads

* Sale-A-Bration

I am hoping to get a few more of the cards finished today so those of you coming to class tonight and tomorrow will be able to see all the finished samples - but not necessarily all 20. I will do my best...

If anyone fancies getting their hands on any of the Sale-A-Bration products drop me a line. Each £45 purchase entitles you to one FREE item from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue and there is so much to choose from.

Banish those winter blues

I love the combination of Island Indigo, Rich Razzleberry and Summer Starfruit. It's not a combination that I ordinarily would have thought of but I had some Stampin' Write Markers out on my craft space and I liked the colour combination of these three and decided to give it a try.  The colours have cheered me up no end and banished the winter blues for a little while.

This card features three of the items that are available FREE as part of this year's Sale-A-Bration. Two of them are I think fairly obvious but the third may not be. Sorry no prizes for guessing correctly.

Stampin' Up! products used:

Card Stock/Designer Series Paper : Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry and Island Indigo. Also Sycamore Street DSP*
Ink : Rich Razzleberry, Island Indigo and Summer Startfruit
Stamp set : Bloomin' Marvelous*
Accessories : Vine Street Textured Impressions Folder*, Scallop Border Ribbon, Oval and Scallop Oval punches

* Sale-A-Bration item. FREE with a £45 purchase (excluding p&p) from any of the current catalogues.

Check back tomorrow for another project.

Card Challenges

What with all this horrid snow we have been experiencing and the cancellation of yesterday's team training because of it, I thought I should do something creative. I put the creative part of my brain in gear and decided it was time to take part in another card challenge. In fact, I am hoping that this card meets the requirements of two challenges!

The first is one that I found on the Freshly Made Sketches Blog. It is, Freshly Made Sketches #69 - by Linda S

As the name implies, it is a sketch based challenge and here is the sketch that the cards are to be based on.

The second challenge I found on the SU Only Challenge blog. SU Only Challenge #62 - New Toys!

As the title implies, the challenge is to use "New Toys". I have just received my pre-order goodies from the Spring/Summer Seasonal Catalogue so I thought that this challenge was a good incentive to get them out and have a play.

So here is the card that I came up with and, I hope it fills the criteria for both challenges. Please feel free to leave your thoughts and comments.

The card was made using mainly products that will be available as part of Sale-A-Bration and from the forthcoming Spring/Summer Catalogue. The only "old" stamp set used came from the Lacy & Lovely set that was introduced in the current annual catalogue so it's not exactly old!

Don't forget Sale-A-Bration starts next week. You are going to love all the FREE choices that will be available to you.
