Framelits card

I've been on a bit of a roll with my christmas card making. This is another one that was quick and easy to make. This is just as well as I took a break from preparing for my last Christmas Stamp-a-Stack this coming Saturday - I'll post a sneak peek of those cards later in the week.

The Color Coach came in handy, as it always does when I'm looking to make a card in a hurry.  I wanted to make a card using Midnight Muse and what better colour to co-ordinate with it than Rich Razzleberry.

I used the Labels Collection Framelits and some Whisper White card stock and Rich Razzleberry Designer Series Paper from the Brights Collection Stack.

The larger Whisper White framelit was run through the Big Shot a second time with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

The greeting comes from the Delightful Dozen stamp set and I stamped it using my Midnight Muse ink pad onto a piece of Whisper White card stock. I then used a framelit from the new Apothecary Accents Framelits set. This was added to the Rich Razzleberry DSP using Dimensionals.

The photo is not too clear but I also added a couple of the new Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons (one each side) with a Basic Rhinestone placed in the centre of each.  Click on the photo and you should be able to see a larger picture.

Because the card base is Midnight Muse I thought it might be a good idea to add a Whisper White framelit to the inside so that I can write a message. I did however add a couple of stamped snowflakes from the Four Seasons hostess set.

Gift Card holder

As much as I love making cards, it is fun to make other things too.

Here is a card of sort - a small card that can be used as a gift card or money holder. I can't remember where the original idea came from, as I have been making them for friends for years. Apologies to whoever originally thought up the idea.

The basic card is made from a C6 envelope that has been folded in half and the flap is then cut in half along the fold but only as far as the crease. Half of the flap is then stuck down and the other half folded into the envelope.

Both the front and the back of the envelope are stamped using a small stamp - I have chosen the snow flake medallion from the Season of Joy set. I like to finish off the inside of the holder by putting a piece of contrasting card stock or paper with a suitable message on the inside left side and another piece of matching paper tucked inside the right hand side. This time I chose matching paper from the Patterns Designer Series Paper stack.

The matt on the front of the card was stamped using the large poinsettia and then the scrolls were stamped once the centre stamp was masked off. It is a simple but very effective design that makes the front of the card pop. The stamped poinsettia was matted onto a piece of the Patterns Designer Series Paper that matches the paper used on the inside and the whole thing was then fixed onto the front using Stampin' Dimensionals.

A couple of tips for you

• If you have problems matching or looking for complementary colour schemes then the Stampin' Up! Color Coach is a great tool. Not only does it give you ideas for different colour combinations but there is space at the back that you can write down your own combinations too.
• Because the stamped front of the card is matted onto the holder front you can run a piece of complementary coloured ribbon underneath and around the holder, This can then be tied to keep it shut. You just need to make sure that the dimensionals are put in the corners and not across the middle where the ribbon should go.
