Geared Up and Stepped Up Garage

It’s time to share my Geared Up and Stepped Up Garage cards. You may recall that I shared the Geared Up Garage Simple Stamping No.4  last Saturday, so these are a little more complicated and or time consuming to make.

Geared Up Stepped Up Garage

Instructions for the Geared Up and Stepped Up Garage card above

  • Cut cardstock as follows
    • Thick Whisper White base card – 14.9 x 21.0 cm
    • Basic Black panel – 10.0 x 14.4 cm
    • Real Red panel – 9.5 x 13.9 cm, and
    • Whisper White panel – 9.0 x 13.4 cm
  • Use the same Pretty Label Punch to make part of the label for the sentiment, but used a 1-1/4″ Circle Punch for the sentiment itself.
  • Added some Black/ Silver Striped Metallic Ribbon. I love this ribbon because it is masculine enough to the used on a card for men.

Instructions for the card below

  • Cut cardstock as follows
    • Real Red cardbase – 14.9 x 21.0 cm (A5)
    • Basic Black panel – 10.0 x 14.4 cm and
    • Whisper White panel – 9.5 x 13.9 cm. Stamp Real Red oil patches and Black nuts on this piece
  • Use the Garage Gears Thinlits Dies to die cut the sentiment and to make a feature of it.
  • Decorate the inside of the card using die cut Real Red and Basic Black. I’ll let you into a secret, the Real Red piece was the piece that fell out of the middle of the Real Red winged piece on the front of the card.

The Real Red piece inside the card was stamped using a greeting made up of two stamps. They came from the Thoughtful Banner stamp set.

Those of you who came to Saturday’s Classic Garage Retreat will recognise the second card. If you didn’t make it,  you can purchase the instructions for this card and the five other projects as part of the Classic Garage Collection.

Happy stamping

Geared Up Garage - CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge # 303

Hello and welcome to the first CAS Colours & Sketches challenge of 2019. This month is being hosted by Jeanne and this week she has a sketch for us to try. I have a class later this month so I’ve been keen to try out the new Geared Up Garage stamp set. Hence it’s use for my card.

To be honest I was a little conflicted with this sketch. It took me a little while to come up with something that I liked so I hope you like it.

Geared Up Garage - CAS Challenge 303

My main issue was how and what to use for the wavy piece across the middle. My original thought was to use vellum but I’m away from home and don’t have any. In the end I opted to use some of the Classic Garage double sided paper. Some of the same paper was used for the inside too.

I’m loving the Garage Gear dies that coordinate with the stamp set. The die cut emblem reminds me of the emblem on my mini (car), but I’m sure that there are other car manufacturers that have similar emblem shapes. Sadly, you can’t see the full detail in the photo but there is embossing on the wings too – the die does the cutting and embossing.

I didn’t use the sentiment from the stamp set for the emblem but used one from another. I thought this combination would make a great card for someone who has just passed their driving test. Sentiments can easily be swapped out though so you could use the idea for lots of other occasions.

Hopefully my Geared Up Garage card has inspired you to give the challenge a go. You will find the link HERE and you have until 11.00 pm (UK time) to add the link to your card.

In the meantime don’t forget to pop over to the challenge blog to see what other members of the design team have to share. We have two new members joining us and I’m sure that they will have some great ideas to inspire you.

Happy stamping.
