Sweet Symmetry paper and a punch - what a great combo!

Last week’s Card & A Cuppa kit featured the Sweet Symmetry paper and a punch. A great combination for sweet and simple cards.

Instructions to make your own kit are as follows:

  1. Bumblebee card stock – 14.9 x 21.0 cm scored and folded in half at 10.5 cm to create the card base.
  2. Calypso Coral card stock – 10.0 x 14.4 cm
  3. Basic White card stock – die cut using the 3rd die down from the largest rectangle in the Stitched Rectangle Dies.
  4. Sweet Symmetry double-sided paper – I chose two different sheets to punch out using the Rectangle Postage Stamp Punch.
  5. Basic White card stock – 10.0 x 14.4 cm for inside the card.

Having cut 3 kits for myself, I shared three cards on my facebook live. Two were made beforehand and the third live.

Sweet Symmetry paper and a punch

The thing about card kits is that you don’t have to use every single piece and there’s nothing wrong with even cutting up the pieces in the kit. The middle card above has every single piece from the kit on it. The card on the top of the pile (and also the one below) is still the same kit but I’ve turned the punched rectangles over to use the other side and I also cut down the piece of Calypso Coral card stock.

Details of the items used to make these Sweet Symmetry paper and a punch cards are below

Retiring In Colors Blog Hop

Yesterday I should have taken part in the Crafty Collaborations Retiring In Colors Blog Hop. Sadly it wasn’t to be thanks to some technical difficulties outside of my control. Things have now been resolved, but it’s too late to take part. However, here is the project that I planned to share with you.

I’ve chose  Terracotta Tile as the inspiration for my Retiring In Colors card and made use of a kit that I had created for yesterday’s Zoom Craft & Chat.

retiring in colors blog hop - Terracotta Tile and Ornate Garden

The card is one of three that I shared on my Virtual Card & A Cuppa event. The kit used for the cards looks like this

Each kit contained the following

  1. Terracotta Tile card stock –
      1. Base card of 14.9 x 29.7 cm scored and folded in half at 10.5 cm
      2. A die-cut piece using the Ornate Border Dies (retiring and no longer available)
      3.  4 small flowers. Punch these from scraps of card stock using the Small Bloom Punch (retiring)
  2. Basic White card stock – 2 lots of 10.0 x 14.4 cm (one for inside the card)
  3. Bumblebee card stock – 3.5 x 14.4 cm
  4. Ornate Garden paper – 6 different strips each measuring 2.5 x 15.0 cm
  5. An envelope

I took the liberty of adding an extra piece of Basic White for stamping the sentiment in Terracotta Tile ink. What’s more I also used a couple of cheeky techniques to add some dimension and also to make the supplies go a little further. Both of these were shared on the facebook live event.

The first involved simply cutting one of the strips of paper in half right down the length. This made it easy to use as added interest either side of the strip of Bumblebee card stock.

For the second, I shared how to create a fuller layered flower out of one punched flower. This technique is an oldie but goody, but not everyone likes to do it because it involves having to scrunch the card stock!  You will find a link to the video at the bottom of this post.

You will find the YouTube video here

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my Retiring In Colors project.

Retiring List Update

Some of the items used for the project are or should I say were on the retiring list. The list changes minute by minute as things go out of stock. However, the supplies still available are as follows

No Colouring the True Love Paper - One Kit, Three Cards

Simple black and white paper can make very elegant cards. This is why this week’s facebook live features no colouring the True Love paper from Stampin’ Up!

The kit for the event did contain some coloured card stock. This is an easy way to add colour without the need to colour anything. Embellishments are another great way to add a little something.

no colouring the True Love paper from Stampin' Up!

Cutting instructions for the kit are as follows

  1. Rococo Rose card stock (now retired and no longer available at the time of writing) – 14.9 x 21.0 cm scored and folded in half at 10.5 cm
  2. Basic White card stock
    1. 10.0 x 14.4 cm (for inside the card)
    2. 8.0 x 10.0 cm which is then die-cut using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. TIPs – use both dies at the same time and some washi tape to hold them in position while cutting. Die cut in the centre of the piece of Basic White and do not throw the remaining border away.
  3. Basic Black card stock – scrap at least 6.5 x 9.5 cm for using the same dies as those for the Basic White card stock.
  4. True Love double-sided paper
    1. 3.0 x 10.5 cm
    2. Large flower images of choice. Fussy cut these from the paper.

No colouring - card 1

The card above and the one immediately below were made before the event. I did however, talk through how each of them are put together. A differing combination of glue, dimensionals and items from the kit make for 2 very different looking cards.

no colouring

The last card below was make live. I’m sure some people find it funny how my thought process works. There’s a fair bit of talking to myself!

A Kaleidoscope of Butterflies - One Kit, Three Cards

A group of butterflies is known as a kaleidoscope. What a great and colourful way to describe them.

Both Card & A Cuppa kits for March feature products from the Butterfly Bouquet Suite. This first kit was used on 4 March.

Kaleidoscope of butterflies

Cutting instructions for the kit

  • Bermuda Bay cardstock – 10.5 x 29.7 cm scored and folded in half at 14.9 cm to create base card
  • 2 lots of white cardstock – 10.0 x 14.4 cm (1 for inside)
  • Mint Macaron cardstock – 9.0 x 14.9 cm
  • Butterfly Bijou paper – 7.5 x 15.5 cm (half a sheet)
  • Natural Touch paper – 5.0 x 15.0 cm
  • 3 assorted butterflies die-cut from a sheet of Butterfly Bijou paper using the Brilliant Wings Dies
  • Scrap edge of the Butterfly Bijou paper

This is one of the cards that I’d made prior to the event. It only has three different butterflies making up the kaleidoscope. There wasn’t room for more! I had a second pre-made card to share and made the third one live.

Want to see more? Check out this recording that’s now up on YouTube.

The stamp set, dies and bundle are in the 2021 Annual Catalogue (available from 4 May). But, you can get your hands on them and two coordinating packs of paper now. Because, the products are available in a special pre-release offer from Stampin’ Up!

Snail Mail - One Kit, Three Cards (AKA Virtual Card & A Cuppa)

The Snail Mail Designer Series Paper is so much fun that I had to share it.

Snail Mail Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

I created a Card & A Cuppa kit based on a card by Dawn Olchefske that I’d found on Pinterest.

Snail Mail Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

The kit contained the following –

1. Whisper White Notecard & Envelope
2. Pool Party cardstock measuring 3-1/4” x 4-3/4”
3. 3 lots of Snail Mail Designer Series Paper each measuring ¾” x 4”
4. A piece of Snail Mail Designer Series Paper with a snail and gift for fussy cutting
5. Bermuda Bay cardstock, punched using the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch
6. A length of White Baker’s Twine from the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack

Snail Mail

Since then I’ve gone to town making a few other things. This includes decorating a mini Paper Pumpkin box to hold five notecards and their envelopes.

Here’s a fourth notecard.

This notecard is decorated using items from the Snailed It Bundle – the Snailed It stamp set and the Snail Dies. The Happy Mail stamp from the set coordinates with the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch from the Main Catalogue.

Mini Paper Pumpkin Boxes can be found in the Main Catalogue too. What’s more the Notecards (with envelopes) fit into a box very neatly and once decorated makes a great gift.

If you would like to see the recording from the Virtual Card and A Cuppa event, you will find it on my YouTube Channel.

  • Real Red cardstock – die cut 2 poinsettia and 1 bow from the dies
  • Mango Melody cardstock – punched using 1/2″ circle punch. Or, as I realised during the video, die cut using the small circle from the dies!

These are just a couple of the cards I made and shared on the video.

The sentiments on both cards come from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set.

Pampered Pets Suite from Stampin' Up! - Are you a dog or cat person?

On a recent Facebook Live I shared the Pampered Pets Suite. We used it as part of the August Card & A Cuppa events.

The suite has some really cute paper, and I included some of it in the card kits.

Each card kit included –

  • Real Red card base – 14.9 x 21.0 cm scored and then folded in half at 10.5 cm
  • Basic Black cardstock layer – 10.0 x 14.4 cm
  • Playful Pets paper – 5.0 x 14.4 cm
  • Whisper White die cut stitched circle
  • Real Red die cut stitched circle
  • One cat and one dog from the Playful Pets paper – different sheets
  • 18.0 cm piece of Real Red Stitched Ribbon from the Playful Pets Trim Combo

Because I wasn’t sure if people preferred cats or dogs I included an image of each.  Two of the images (one cat and one dog) coordinate with the Pets Dies but I left everyone to fussy cut the one they preferred. Wicked aren’t I?!

These two cards (immediately above and below) were made before the Facebook Live. And, the third card at the bottom is the one made live.

The event was recorded and has now been uploaded to YouTube. You will find it my clicking on the picture below.
