Glitter and Brads

I thought that today I would "kill two birds with one stone" and feature a card that has both brads and glitter on it. Actually I cheated a little as I have used some of the lovely red glimmer paper that is still available in the Spring Mini Catalogue. Please note that you can only order items in the Spring mini up to the end of April 2012 so don't miss out.

I used both the Glimmer Paper and some Basic Black card stock and ran it through my Big Shot using the Fun Flowers die. After crumpling the Basic Black and also bending the Glimmer Paper, I put the flower together and held it with an Antique Brad.

The card base is made from Basic Black card stock, and a piece of Whisper White was run through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  The greeting comes from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set and it was punched out using the Word Window punch before being mounted onto a piece of Glimmer Paper that had been punched out using the Modern Label punch.

Because I used Basic Black card stock as the card base, I decided that it would be a good idea to add a stamped piece of Whisper White to the inside of the card, so that whoever sends the card can write a message. I used the Ornate Flowers stamp set and stamped it in Real Red.

It's hard to believe that Sale-a-Bration will be over in a few more days. I hope you have managed to get a hold of one of the FREE sets, but if not there is still time as we can place orders right up to 10.30 pm on 31 March.

I still need to post photos of the projects made at last weekend's Craft Day and will do this asap as we used some Sale-a-Bration products and I will not be able to post new photos of these after 31 March. Old posts will of course remain on here as inspiration and ideas.

Crafting at Jade's

Last Saturday I spent the day with some of the lovely ladies who are part of the Blue Angels team. A big thanks to Jade for hosting the day, as usual I had a great time.  There were six of us who managed to meet up and we were all asked to bring a project and supplies to share (and something for lunch too).

Here are some of the projects we made (sorry no glitter). I will let you see the others another day.

This first card was a project from Kat featuring the Button Buddies stamp set.  The card was made by running a piece of folded card stock through the Big Shot using the Large Scallop die. By having the fold within the die, you do not cut off the top of the circle leaving part of the fold to make the crease in the card.

The little piggy was stamped and then cut out and an additional nose was stamped and cut out and then added using a Stampin' Dimensional.

This lovely flower pot card project was from Jade herself. As you can see, the flowers are fixed to a little card that you can pull out of the pot to write your message on. The flowers that were stamped and then cut out come from the Vintage Vogue stamp set and the greeting comes from the Happiest Birthdy Wishes (Hostess) stamp set.

Cate brought us this card(above) to make. It is so simple but really lovely.  The paper comes from the Everyday Enchantment DSP set which is available as part of Sale-a-Bration.  The Very Vanilla background to the greeting was made using the oblong frame from Designer Frames embossing folder set and the Poppy Parade label is actually two pieces that have been punched out using the Designer Label punch.

Pip took pity on me with this card and brought me some different colours to use instead of the ones we used for the hundreds (there were well over 200 made in the three days) made at the Make It show.  This card is in Pumpkin Pie and Lucky Limeade. I used two of the stamps from the Ornate Flower stamp set along with some ruffled ribbon and some paper from the  Designer Paper Stack.

Check back in a couple of days to see the other cards that were made at Jade's. In the meantime I hope to post another glittery project.

Friday Night Challenges

There were two challenges set last night for those of us who did not go to the European Stampin' Up! Convention at Disneyland Paris.  For some reason (madness I think), I decided to do both of them.

The first challenge set by Rozelle, came in two parts. The first part was to include a repeated stamp image and the second part was to keep the colour theme monochrome. This means that you can only use one colour but in different shades or hues of that colour. White was also allowed, but I deviated a little and used Very Vanilla instead (hope this is ok).

The second challenge was set by Laura and this was to make four or more ATCs using our Stampin' Up' stash.  I've never made ATCs before but luckily Laura posted details of what they are. For those of you who are not sure, an ATC (Artist Trading Card) is a small, original piece of art created with the intention of trading or swapping it with another artist. The main rule is that the ATC should be no more than 2.5"x 3.5" in size.

I decided to combine the challenges and use the same basic idea for both. I opted to use the Ornate Flowers stamp set and to use Rich Razzleberry as my colour. I love anything which has an Art Nouveau feel and the Ornate Flowers stamp set is one of my favourite sets as a result.

I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the background, which is Rich Razzelberry on a piece of Rich Razzleberry card stock. I'm glad I opted for a larger stamp for the background, I can be patient but there is a limit to how many times you stamp the same image. The main image and the message are also stamped using Rich Razzelberry but the main image was stamped on a scrap piece of paper and then re-stamped but without re-inking the stamp. It is the second image that was cut out and then matted onto a piece of Rich Razzelberry.  The ribbon is a piece of 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon in Rich Razzleberry (no longer available) that has been bunched up by pulling some of the threads.

The message from the Perfect Punches set was stamped (but the oval was not coloured) and punched out using the Scallop Oval punch and them matted onto a piece of Rich Razzelberry that had been punched out using the Decorative Label punch. I added a small butterfly made using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die.

Rather than making four ATCs the same, I decided to make four different ones. Actually, I have to admit that it never occurred to me to make four the same, doh! Will someone please remind me next time not to make things so difficult for myself. I did however, stick to the monochrome theme (Rich Razzelberry) and same stamp set (Ornate Flowers) that I had used for the other Friday challenge, so all was not lost.

Other than the Ornate Flower stamp set, I did use a few different punches.  Namely, the Scallop Circle punch, the Scallop Trim Border punch, the Word Window punch, the Modern Label punch and the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch.

I hope you like my efforts from last night and please check back tomorrow to see what exciting things today's challenges (yes there is more than one) brings.
