Keep Stamping Colour Challenge

Stampin’ Up! have started a Keep Stamping campaign with the aim to keep us demonstrators stamping during the present lock-down. This week they have set us a colour challenge, which I’m also sharing with you.

If you would like to join in, please visit the Oakfield Crafts Facebook page and post a picture of your project in the comments.

These are two of the projects I’ve made using the above colours (Night of Navy, Pear Pizzazz and Pumpkin Pie).

Keep stamping challenge

Both cards feature the same image from the Hoot Hoot Hooray stamp set. The bottom card looks a little different because I used washi tape to mask the sentiment. This is because I didn’t want the sentiment on the images. It’s a quick and easy method – but only if you remember to remove the washi tape before stamping. Let’s just say that I made a little boo boo and had to stamp the image a fourth time!

Don’t forget to pop over to my facebook page and post a copy of your project in the comments.

Stay safe and keep stamping.

The eyes have it with a hoot hoot hooray

I just had to make a couple of cards using the owl image from the Hoot Hoot Hooray stamp set. You have to admit that the eyes have it when it comes to stamping the image.

The temptation was too great and I simple had to add googly eyes to the image on the second card.

Both cards have a Terracotta Tile base card. The first card has a piece of embossed (Woodland embossing folder) Crumb Cake card stock adhered to it.  And, the Instructions for the second card that I like to call “the eyes have it card” are as follows:

  • Terracotta Tile card base – 14.9 x 21.0 cm scored and folded in half at 10.5 cm
  • Crumb Cake panel – 10.0 x 14.4 cm  fixed to the card front using dimensionals.
  • Terracotta Tile double sided paper – 9.5 x 13.9 cm glued to the Crumb Cake panel.
  • Crumb Cake scallop square – 8.0 x 8.0 cm. Die cut using scallop square from the Stitched Shape dies.
  • Terracotta Tile square – 7.5 x 7.5 cm and then die cut using Square Stitched Shape die.
  • Thick Whisper White square – 6.0 x 6.0 cm. Stamp image and sentiment and then die cut out using Layering Square Die. Colour image using Crumb Cake Combo Stamping’ Blends and a Dark Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blend.
    • Adhere Thick Whisper White square to the Terracotta Tile stitched square using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Glue the Terracotta Square to the scalloped Crumb Cake square and then glue the whole thing to the card front.
  • Whisper White inside panel – 10.0 x 14.4 cm
    • Stamp image in the corner and colour using Stampin’ Blends.
    • Glue the panel inside the card.

Googly eyes are not compulsory but they are a fun touch.

Hope you have enjoyed seeing these cards. The eyes have it when it comes to adding the googly bits. This card is being sent to my niece who has just completed her degree.

17 July Weekly Update and You Made My Day

Well, it’s time for the 17 July weekly update, but to be honest there’s not too much to share with you right now. All the excitement will be happening next week when the Autumn/Winter catalogue can be seen by demonstrators. Instead, I’m going to share my You Made My Day card which was made using the Hoot Hoot Hooray stamp set (from the Experience Creativity brochure). This card is particularly cute because of the colour coordination between the flower and double sided paper.

17 July weekly updates and you made my day

The Rococo Rose paper from the 2019-2021 In Color 6″ x 6″ paper pack was die cut using a die from the new Stitched Nested Labels Die set. And, all the rectangles have been cut using the Stitched Rectangle Dies. I had to shorten the piece that the flower is stamped onto, but this was easy to do. Simply use one of the longer sides of the die to cut off the piece not needed.

17 July weekly update and you made my day with hoot hoot hooray

The flower was coloured using Stampin’ Blends and the rhinestones were coloured using blends too. Because the Stampin’ Blends are alcohol markers, they can be used to colour items to coordinate with the colours on a card. It makes everything look so professional.

Sadly the photos doesn’t show the centre of the flower too well. Some fine-tip glue was used to accent the centre of the flower so that it is shiny and glossy. Another product that has multiple purposes.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this You Made My Day card and the other Hoot Hoot Hooray cards. Voting is currently taking place on my facebook page for next week’s featured stamp set. Don’t forget to pop over there an add your vote (closes 18 July at noon – UK time).

Hoot Hoot Hooray - Stepped Up Sunday

Today I’m sharing a stepped up version of the ever so cute Hoot Hoot Hooray card that I posted yesterday. I’m keeping things simple still – even more stepped up versions will be shared later this week.

Want to be reminded of the card I shared yesterday? Then check it out here. Although yesterday’s card is designed with beginners in mind, it is very easy to step it up a notch or two.

Hoot Hoot Hooray - stepped up Sunday

For this stepped up version I simply coloured the image using some Stampin’ Blends. Depending on the size of the image you could use other colouring medium such as markers, ink and blender pens/aqua painters.

Instructions for the Hoot Hoot Hooray card

  1. Make base card from a 14.9 x 21.0 cm piece of Seaside Spray cardstock by scoring and folding in half at 10.5 cm.
  2. Stamp image using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto a 6.5 x 10.5 cm piece of Seaside Spray double sided paper.
  3. Colour image using chosen medium. I used Stampin’ Blends in the following colours
    1. Light and Dark Crumb Cake
    2. Light and Dark Smoky Slate
    3. Dark Night of Navy
    4. Color Lifter
  4. Glue the Seaside Spray paper to a 7.0 x 11.0 cm piece of Whisper White cardstock and then wrap a length of White Baker’s Twine around the top and tie in a bow at the front.
  5. Adhere the panel to the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  6. Use a 10.0 x 14.9 cm piece of Whisper White cardstock for the inside. I added a 1.0 cm wide strip of Seaside Spray down the edge.

Hoot Hoot Hooray inside

Hope you have enjoyed seeing this stepped up Hoot Hoot Hooray card. I have a few to share over the coming week so check back on a regular basis.

Need this stamp set? Purchase from my Online Store by clicking on the images below. Don’t forget there is free shipping this month on all orders of £25 or more (excluding P&P) because it’s my birthday month. This means that the £4.95 will be refunded to you via PayPal or Bank Transfer – which ever method you prefer.

Happy stamping.

Simple Stamping Saturdays No.19 - Hoot Hoot Hooray

I ran a poll earlier in the week on my facebook page and asked people to vote on which stamp set they would like me to feature. As a result of this, the Simple Stamping Saturdays No.19 features the Hoot Hoot Hooray stamp set.

You won’t find the stamp set in the main catalogue but will find it in the Experience Creativity Brochure. I love the new annual catalogue but it can be a little daunting for someone who is just starting out. This is where the Experience Creativity Brochure comes into its own. Mind you, there is nothing wrong with more experienced crafters using the stamp sets in the brochure.

Simple Stamping Saturdays No.19 - Hoot Hoot Hooray

Today’s card is simple in it’s design because you stamp straight onto the double sided paper. You just need to make sure that the paper you use will show the image.

Simple Stamping Saturdays No.19 - Hoot Hoot Hooray

I used Purple Posy and Seaside Spray double sided paper from the 2019-2021 6″ x 6″ paper pack. The soft colours are perfect for these baby cards.

Basic Instructions –

  1. Use a Whisper White Notecard.
  2. Cut double sided paper to measure 8.2 x 12.0 cm (3-1/4″ x 4-3/4″). Be careful which way you cut the paper to ensure any words appear the right way round.
  3. Stamp image using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto the double sided paper.
  4.  Optional part – stamp sentiment in Tuxedo Black onto a 1.0 cm wide strip of Whisper White cardstock and then trim ends.
  5. Glue the paper to the card front.
  6. Add sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals if you stamped it separately.

Hope you have enjoyed seeing these Simple Stamping Saturdays No.19 cards. Check back tomorrow for a stepped up version.

Happy stamping.
