Miniature Works of Art

When going to a Stampin’ Up! event it’s pretty usual to give table gifts and or team gifts, and the recent OnStage Telford event was no exception. Having said that, we did decide to do things a little differently for table gifts by taking part in a sampler swap. I like to think of these squares as miniature works of art.

Esther came up with the idea, and the remit was for each of us (nine people in total) to make nine identical squares. After the swap, each of us would then end up with nine different squares to fit into a 12″ x 12″ box frame.

We did have a brief. The purpose being, to avoid anything too extreme or clashing colour wise. And, these were:

  • Base square to be a 3-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ square of Poppy Parade.
  • No sentiments.
  • To keep the colour palette to Poppy Parade, Calypso Coral, Pool Party, So Saffron, Whisper White and Basic Black

This is the graphic that Esther produced for the colours

I think that a few of the Crafting Acorns were a little stuck with the colours at first, but they soon overcame that. The miniature works of art speak for themselves.

Here are the nine pieces in the format that I think I’m going to use for my 12″ x 12″ sampler.

Please leave a comment and let me know what you think. And, if you would like to see the team gifts that I gave, you can check them out here.

Happy Stamping.

Cute Treat Cups - OnStage Telford Team Gifts

When going to an OnStage Event it is usual to make team gifts.  For the recent event in Telford, I made some cute treat cups as gifts for the eight team members who came with me. Actually I made nine treat cups, but gave mine to a non team member sitting on the same table as us. So, glad that I took my photos before the event because I don’t have one anymore.

cute treat cups

Take a closer look at one.

The Sweet Cups come with lids, in packs of 10 and are white in colour.  I decorated them using double sided paper from the Painted Seasons pack of 12″ x 12″ paper. The Sweet Cups are on the retirement list, and I’m sorry to see them go.

Instructions for decorating the treat cups

I used a template found on the internet from Dee Slater (createwithdee.com). Printed it full size onto a piece of A4 photocopier paper, and then cut it out.

To create the sides you need to –

  • On the reverse side of the double sided paper draw around the template. Make sure that you choose paper where it does not matter if the design goes on an angle.
  • Cut out the shape.
  • Apply glue to the reverse side of the double paper  and don’t forget to put glue on both ends too.
  • Place the paper around the treat cup – the top edge will fit under the lip of the cup and the ends will overlap slightly. It may be necessary to trim around the bottom a little.

The tops of the treat cups were decorated using –

  • Cut Strips of Poppy Parade cardstock for the edges.
  • A mixture of Poppy Parade cardstock, Painted Seasons double sided paper (Sale-A-Bration) and Whisper White cardstock were cut using the Layering Circle Dies and the Stitched Shapes dies.
  • Stamp the sentiment in Poppy Parade onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and then punch out using the Pretty Label Punch.
  • Punch a small flower punch from the Bitty Blooms Punch Pack (discontinued) and then a circle using the 1-3/4′” Circle Punch from Poppy  Parade cardstock.
  • Adhere a  length of Flax Ribbon to the underside of the Poppy Parade circle.
  • Then put the whole of the top was put together using glue and foam pads.

Big news from OnStage - Cling Stamps and must have bags & totes

There were three pieces of exciting big news that we heard at Onstage. And, because the spoiler alert for this OnStage has been lifted so I can share everything with you now.

Cling Stamps

Starting with the 2019 Spring/Summer Catalogue, all future catalogues will only feature Cling and Photopolymer stamps.  No more new wood mount stamp sets. We have been asking for cling stamps for ages and Stampin’ Up! have listened to us and delivered. YAY.

big news from onstage

Cling stamps will still feature the same high quality red rubber that we are used to, but will in future come with highly adhesive labels. This means you don’t need to worry that the stamp will move around on your clear block or even fall off.

I received a couple of cling stamp sets at OnStage and will be sharing how to mount and care for them in a Facebook live on Monday, 19 November at 10.00 am. The event will be recorded and available on the Facebook Page if you are not able to watch live.

Craft & Carry Stamparatus Bag

The Craft & Carry Stamparatus Bag will be available from 5 December. This is a great way to keep your Stamparatus and accessories in one place and is handy if you are going to classes or to a friend’s house to craft.

I have pre-ordered a bag and will be sharing more details about it as soon as I am able.

Last but not least, Stampin’ Up! also gave us information about Sale-A-Bration and an exclusive tote that will be available as part of one of the joining options.

Craft & Carry Tote

The great news is that you can get the tote now as part of your starter kit (subject to availability) if you join before Sale-A-Bration starts (3 Jan 2019).

Once Sale-a-Bration starts you will only be able to obtain it as part of the Option 2 joining offer.

As you can see, there are lots of exciting things happening. I can’t wait to share the big news from OnStage in more detail with you.

Happy stamping.

First Orlando Make N Take - Classic Garage Suite, 2019 Spring/Summer

Make N Takes are one of the highlights of OnStage events. In Orlando we had four to enjoy making, together with a Take N Make. The aim of the Take N Make being to complete it at home. Today I am sharing the first Orlando Make N Take.

Each Make N Take comes in it’s own package and the stamps, ink etc are usually in the plastic tote on the table.

Orlando Make N Takes

For the first Orlando Make n Take we got to use the Geared Up Garage stamp set and the Garage Gears Thinlits. Please note that they will be available from 3 January, either individually or as a bundle.

The Make N Take was infact a box which we got to decorate.

Orlando Make N Take using the Classic Garage Suite

Basic Instructions for the Make N Take

  • We stamped the sentiment and then die cut it out.
  • The cogs/gears were then die cut out of the Tranquil Tide paper.
  • A strip of Crushed Curry cardstock was glued to the square of the Classic Garage 6″ x 6″ Paper.
  • Then the die cut cog was glued to the paper.
  • Black/Silver 1/4″ Striped Metallic Ribbon was wrapped around the paper before the whole thing was glue to the lid of the box.
  • To finish off, the stamped and die cut sentiment were then attached to the box using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Here’s a picture of the board showing the whole suite. The little spanner and key embellishments are really cute.

As an Onstage attendee I get to take part in the Product Purchase Premier. This suite is one that has made it’s way into my order so you can expect to see more ideas in the weeks leading up to it’s release in January.

Happy stamping.

Acorns in Florida - OnStage Live (Days 4 to 5)

The Acorns in Florida have been having a blast. Admittedly there have been a few interesting moments such as getting on the freeway and travelling east bound instead of west. Sadly, today is our last day and tonight we fly back to the UK, but not before I share days 4 and 5 with you.

Day 4

Friday was our second full day at OnStage. The morning started with a prize patrol, and recognition. Of course there were stamping presentations and another prize patrol or two too.

We had two further Make N Takes to do during our lunch period. I only seem to have a photo of one of them so will add the fourth to my Facebook page sometime this week.

Acorns in Florida Make N Take 3

In the afternoon we had a few hours to ourselves but not enough time to go back to the villa and relax. A few of us decided to do some crafting and others went out into the heat and humidity to have a wander around.

After dinner at Olive Garden (a new experience for most) it was back to Main Stage for a fun evening. Sara and other Stampin’ Up! employees together with a few demonstrators had us in stitches with their presentations.

Dale had us in stitches with his Polar Bear in the Snow card – basically a blank card! This seems to have started a trend so if you see others on Pinterest such as a black card called frogs in the dark you will know where it came from.

Lisa Hardie used the Hopping Along stamp set in her presentation and had us rolling in the aisles. The stamp set will be available in January 2019 as one of the Sale-A-Bration options.

I’ll leave you to figure out why it caused such a commotion, but let’s just say that the red lips and the eye lashes finished us off!

Day 5

Saturday was a long day and started with recognition for various things.  We were separated for lunch with Centre Stage attendees going to another room.

Here I am talking to my friend Ann Lewis. She is one of the Global Stampers. I’m glad to say that we did manage to meet up with Robbie too.

The afternoon was spent recognising demonstrator anniversaries. It was inspiring to see demonstrators celebrating their 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th and 30th anniversaries. Did you know that there are 3 US demonstrators who are celebrating their 30th anniversaries along with Stampin’ Up! ? No mean feat.

Once OnStage was over we were treated to watch Shelli and Sara doing some stamping. Sara’s daughters also came on stage for a short while. This stamping business is a real family affair. Here’s a couple of the cards that they stamped and shared with us.

Let It Ride rainbow card

The rainbow behind the horse (from Let it Ride) was made using Shimmer Embossing Paste and re-inkers. I for one will be giving this technique a go over the next few weeks and I’ll share my efforts when I can.

The card above was made using the Florentine Filigree Bundle (stamp set and die). The Stamparatus was used to ensure the stamp placements lined up.

Both the Let It Ride and Florentine Filigree Bundle will be available from 3 January when the 2019 Spring/Summer Catalogue is released. More about that soon.

Happy Stamping.

Acorns in Florida - We made it to OnStage Live ( Days 1 to 3)

Acorns in Florida – Part 1 (Days 1 to 3)

We made it to Orlando this past Monday. The long flight, long lines at immigration, and then a drive in the dark with seven passengers made for an interesting and very long day (about 18 hours). Some of the team are totally overwhelmed by the vastness of the place (and the huge choice of food and drinks on menus) and the weather (hot and really humid). Everyday so far has been bad hair day for me!!

Day 1

Tuesday was spent visiting all the various craft stores that everyone wanted to visit – Michaels, Joann’s and Hobby Lobby. I’ve never been to a Hobby Lobby and was totally overwhelmed by it!

We made it to OnStage Live in Florida safe and sound
Michaels – the first port of call on Day 2

Day 2

The day started with bag pick-up. Not too early in the morning though.  This was just as well because the SatNav sent us on a huge circle which added a few miles to our journey from the villa to the Convention Centre.

In the afternoon some of the team went to Epcot and the others to Disney Springs. Epcot is where Stampin’ Up! held their evening CentreStage event for top demonstrators. The evening was filled with karaoke and desserts. Sara Douglass made one announcement and I’ll be posting details of the announcement very soon.

I was glad to fall into my bed at midnight, but not before I finished my fancy fold swaps!

Day 3

Wednesday started bright and early.  This was just as well because the traffic from our villa to the Convention Center was a bit of a nightmare. The day was pretty full on – swaps, catalogues handed out, four prize patrols, all attendee giveaways, business talks, product spotlights, Shelli and others stamping and of course a couple of make n takes.

The Acorns with their Spring/Summer Catalogues. Oh what to choose for pre-order?

Check back soon to see the Make n Takes.

Happy stamping.
