Birthday Jubilee - Card & A Cuppa

For the first Card & A Cuppa of 2020 I designed projects using the Birthday Jubilee stamp set. I chose a Highland Heather card base and made three cards using the same basic card kit. Everyone attending has the option to follow the samples or do their own thing within the parameters of the kit and supplies I take.

This is just one of the cards I designed.

Birthday Jubilee stamp set and bundle
Coloured flowers on card front. White flowers on the envelope

Each card kit contained

Highland Heather card base – 14.9 x 21.0 cm scored and folded in half at 10.5 cm

Whisper White panel – 10.5 x 14.9 cm and then die cut using the size down from the largest Stitched Rectangle Dies.

Whisper White insert – 10.0 x 14.4 cm. Stamp image using Memento Tuxedo Black and then colour using Stampin’ Blends.

Whisper White panel – 10.5 x 14.9 cm. Use this piece for stamping images and sentiments for the front of the card. Die cut images using coordinating dies from the Birthday Jubilee Dies and punch out the sentiment using a 2″ Circle Punch.

Whisper White envelope – decorated as desired.  In the picture above I only coloured the leaves and centre of each flower.

Christmas Bough - Card & A Cuppa

The kit for the latest Card & A Cuppa included a die cut Christmas Bough from the Stitched Brightly Dies. These dies are a quick and easy way of making a Christmas card. Add a few layers to take it to the next level and voila.

Christmas Boughs - Stitched Brightly

Everyone attending the event receives the same kit and I take three made up cards using items from the kit. Some cards use the whole kit and others use most but not all.

This is one of the cards I made.

Botanical Bliss - One Stamp, One Kit and Three Cards

One of April’s Card & A Cuppa events featured the Botanical Bliss stamp set. The events are held the first and third Wednesday of each month.

Usually I use only one stamp set, one kit (actually there are lots of kits but everyone got the same) and then make three different samples. It’s  funny to watch people checking out the projects. Some like to copy a card completely, others will make a small change and others will simply do their own thing. Whatever they decide is fine by me and I’m always on hand to offer help and advice as it’s needed.

I love this stamp set  and I’m so happy that it’s carrying over into the 2019 Annual Catalogue. It does mean that it gets to stay on my shelf for another year and will be used for future projects.

Simple and elegant – check out the inside too!

A bit of stamping and fussy cutting going on here. Another peek of the punch and the inside of the card as well.

Full details including the cutting instructions for these cards can be found in my Tutorials. Please note that the measurements are all in metric, but you can easily convert them to inches.

The ink, cardstock and the double sided paper are all retiring on 3 June so don’t delay if they are something you want or need. You can shop the products by clicking on the appropriate picture below. This will take you directly to the item in my Online Store.

Got to pick a pocket card - One kit, three cards

Lots of fun was had at last week’s Card & A Cuppa making something a little different – a Pocket Card.

Ladies at Card & A Cuppa having fun making the pocket cards

It all started with one kit made up of card stock, paper and ribbon.

Pocket card kit and the Vibrant Vases

A stamp set (plus optional one for the sentiment), a few Stampin’ Blends and lots of punches were then added to the mix.

These are the three samples that I made.

Examples of pocket cards using Vibrant Vases stamp set

Here’s a closer look at the pocket card on the right. Just so you know, the pocket is not sealed along the sides. Instead, a piece of ribbon wrapped around and fixed under the medallion holds the pocket shut.

Merry Christmas To All - One Stamp Set, One Kit, Three Cards

It’s been a little while since I shared my Card & A Cuppa kit and cards. For those of you who haven’t seen previous posts, I call them my One Stamp Set, One Kit, Three Cards. Yesterday we used the Merry Christmas To All stamp set at the penultimate event of 2018 – the last one for the year is on 5 December.

Each Merry Christmas To All kit contained –

  • Whisper White envelope
  • Garden Green cardbase – 14.9 x 21.0 cm, scored and folded in half at 10.5 cm.
  • Cherry Cobbler layer – 10.0 x 14.4 cm
  • Whisper White layer  – 9.5 x 13.9 cm
  • Designer Series Paper – 5.0 x 11.0 cm
  • Cherry Cobbler Merry – die cut using the
  • Whisper White for stamping – 3.0 x 8.0 cm
  • Whisper White panel for inside – 10.0 x 14.4 cm

Here are the three samples that I took to the event.

Merry Christmas to All

The first and second cards are basically the same – one being portrait and the other landscape. The other difference is that on the card above the Merry has been adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals and the Christmas is glued on. On the card below I have done the reverse. The Merry is glued on and the Christmas is adhered using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Merry Christmas to All - One Stamp, One Kit, Three Cards

The third card (below) uses a different Christmas sentiment stamp (from the same set). This time though, I stamped it in Garden Green ink and then roughly fussy cut around it.

Merry Christmas To All - One Kit, One Stamp, Three Cards

All the cards have some Red Rhinestones added to them for  added interest.

The last Card & A Cuppa for 2018 will be on 5 December. If you live local to me I would love to see you there.  If you can’t make that one then I’ll be back at the Holme Grange Chocolate Cafe on 16 January with the first Card & A Cuppa for 2019.

Happy Stamping.

Wishing You Well - One Stamp Set, One Kit, Three Cards

Yesterday I spent some of the day designing the cards for the next Card & A Cuppa. As I was doing so, I realised that I hadn’t share the last set. We used the Wishing You Well stamp set and had lots of fun with it.

The Wishing You Well kit contained –

  • Whisper White envelope
  • Garden Green cardbase – 14.9 x 21.0 cm, scored and folded in half at 10.5 cm.
  • Real Red layer – 10.0 x 14.4 cm
  • Designer Series Paper – 9.5 x 13.9 cm
  • Whisper White layer for stamping – 7.0 x 9.0 cm
  • Whisper White inside – 10.0 x 14.4 cm

Here are the three samples that I took to the event.

Wishing You Well One Stamp One Kit Three cards

Don’t you just love the Real Red bow. It’s one of the new Distinktive stamps which create opacities in a single stamped image. This gives the image realistic depth and intensity. The wreath is a Distinktive stamp too – just a little more subtle because the leaves are much smaller.

The wreath was stamped in onto the small Whisper White panel and then then die cut out. Yes, I did take my Big Shot with me.

The bow had to be fussy cut though.

Wishing You Well One Stamp One Kit three cards

The second card was simply turned 90° and the bow was added to the top rather than the bottom. A very quick and simple way of achieving a different look.

My third card features two completely different stamps from the set. The bouquet was stamped in Garden Green and the flowers were then stamped in Real Red. The Real Red bow still had to be fussy cut though, there was no gettting out of that!

If you are in the area this coming Wednesday (17 October) why not pop in and see what I have in store for the Card & Cuppa Event.

Happy Stamping.

Timeless Tidings - One Stamp set, One Kit, Three Cards

At yesterday’s Card & A Cuppa we used the Timeless Tidings stamp set. Everyone received the same kit and I designed three cards that people could copy or use as inspiration to design their own version.

Each kit contained one each of the following –

  • Garden Green base card – 14.9 x 21.0 cm scored and folded in half at 10.5 cm
  • Cherry Cobbler panel – 10.0 x 14.4 cm
  • Whisper White panel – 9.5 x 13.9 cm
  • Designer Series Paper – 10.0 x 10.0 cm
  • Garden Green square – 6.8 x 6.8 cm
  • Whisper White inside panel – 10.0 x 14.4 cm
  • Whisper White envelope

These are the three cards that I designed.

Timeless Tidings fun fold card for a Card & A Cuppa card

The focal piece of each card is a folded piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP). This fun fold is known as an Origami Shadowbox Fold.

The instructions so that you can give it try are –

  • Start with a 10.0 x 10.0 cm piece of DSP. It is important that you have a true square.
  • Have the side that you want on the inside (the folded-back point that shows) facing you and then –
    •  Fold the paper in half,  and then fold in half the other way. Be sure to burnish the folds with a Bone Folder.
    • Open up the DSP and fold each corner into the centre (where the two folds cross). Burnish each fold with a Bone Folder.
    • Once all the corners have been folded in, fold back each point to the edge of the outer fold. Again, make sure you burnish all the folds.
  • Glue the 6.8 x 6.8 cm piece of Garden Green cardstock inside the folds to give some stability to the DSP and create a solid background.
  • Glue the shadowbox to your card front before adding the centre piece. This is because it makes it easier to apply the pressure to ensure it is glued in place. Tip – do any stamping before fixing the shadowbox to the Whisper White panel just incase things don’t go as planned. I used the Timeless Tidings stamp set because the size of some of the  images and sentiments are great for punching out.

The next Card & A Cuppa is on 3 October. Feel free to join us if you live locally.

Happy stamping.

Card & A Cuppa - One Stamp Set One Kit and Three Cards

It’s been a little while since I shared some of the projects from my Card & A Cuppa events. Last Wednesday was the first one since the summer break.

Here’s a picture of the kit that everyone received.

Card & A Cuppa Kit - Fiona Whitten, Oakfield Crafts

Each kit contained the following:

  • Merry Merlot base card – 21.0 x 14.9 cm which was scored and folded in half at 10.5 cm
  • Old Olive panel – 10.0 x 14.4 cm
  • Designer Series Paper panel – 9.5 x 13.9 cm
  • Merry Merlot strip – 2.0 x 14.4 cm
  • Early Espresso die cut deer – pre cut using Detailed Deer Thinlits die
  • Whisper White panel – 10.0 x 14.4 cm for the inside of the card
  • Designer Series Paper strip – 1.5 x 14.4 cm

There were also scrap pieces of Whisper White for stamping, punching or fussy cutting.

These are pictures of the three cards that I took with me as samples.

Needless to say some finished cards looked slightly different because people took their favourite elements from my cards and combined them to make their own. Others used my cards and simply followed what I had done – which is very flattering. At the end of the day it does not matter as to who did what. The aim is to have a great time crafting together and enjoying each other’s company.

The next Card & A Cuppa is on 19 September over at the Grange Chocolate Cafe in the Holme Grange Craft Village. You can find out more here.

Happy stamping.
