Quick and Easy Stepper Card with the Dandy Garden Paper

This quick and easy stepper card requires very little cutting and the finished result is stunning.  The original idea and instructions for the card come from Pauline Barnfather.  Pauline was kind enough to share the instructions at a team online crafting event. I have taken it one stage further and re-sized the card to fit in a standard C6 envelope.

One of the things that I love about this card, is that the centre panel can be positioned wherever you want it. I decided to fix it in the middle, but it could have been fixed to the either the left or right of the centre.

The original card was shared on my Card & Stamping Techniques Facebook Live on 13 January.

Both cards are made using the Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper along with the Dragonfly Garden Bundle.

Details of all the supplies used can be found below.

Cutting & scoring instructions

1.  Base card – A4 coloured card stock, cut as follows:

• 8″ x 5-3/4″. With the 8″ side at top of your trimmer/score board, score at 3″, 6″ and 7″
• 8″ x 4″. With the 8″ side at the top of your trimmer/score board, score at 4″

2. Designer Series Paper, cut as follows:

• landscape strip measuring 3/4″ x 5-1/2″
• landscape panel measuring 2-3/4″ x 5-1/2″
• portrait panel measuring 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″

It’s up to you to decide if you want to use two different sheets of paper or the same for all three pieces.

3. White panel for the reverse of the card measuring 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″

The video shows you how to create the card. It includes details of where to score and fold each piece of cardstock. And, also where each piece of designer series paper should be glued.

The following is a copy of my 30 March 2020 Newsletter. With all the things going on (or not) in the world today I wanted to reach as many people as possible. Please read on…

I had planned to share a new tutorial this week in my weekly newsletter but with all that’s going on in the world I decided to sit back for a few days, take a break and re-evaluate things.

My Stampin’ Up! business is really important to me because I love all the face to face interaction with my team and with you all through my classes, card & a cuppa and other events. All this has had to stop for the time being, but this doesn’t mean that I’m giving up. Nor have I stopped crafting!

Supplies used for this 30 March 2020 Newsletter card are as follows. Clicking on the picture will take you to a downloadable pdf were you can see things in more detail.

Those of you who know me well, know that the internet service where I live is dire. Anything which requires me to go online such as Facebook Live or YouTube just doesn’t work very well. Both both my daughter and hubby are now working from home, so things are even worse!

So, this is what I am planning to do, and I hope you will support me in any way you can.

1. At the start of each month I will be sending kits to those of you who usually attend Card & A Cuppa.

There will be two kits in each pack to cover both Wednesday’s that will be missed (and save me postage). The kits are free – I just want to encourage you to continue crafting.

If you don’t normally come to Card & A Cuppa, I am happy to send you the kits but you will need to let me have your UK address. Email me to request your kit – April’s is going out today and I do have a couple spare.

Each Wednesday that the Card & A Cuppa would have been held I will attempt to do a Facebook Live. Please bear with me if it does not work out. I will simply carry on and record it. It will then be posted to my Facebook page. A picture of the kit and the card will also be posted to Facebook that same day and in this newsletter the following week.

2. Classes and Kits by post will be available.

There will be various options available –

• Simple Kit costing £20.00 (inc UK postage) which will contain supplies for 3 cards and the instructions. These will be great kits for those of you who are just starting on your card making journey or just want to keep your hand in. There will be no stamped images but all necessary cutting, die cutting, embossing and punching will have been done for you. You can then add your own sentiments or use the printed (not Stampin’ Up!) sentiments I send.
• Class Kit which will cost £30.00 (inc UK P&P to you). The kit will include the stamp set, supplies for 4 cards (cardstock, paper etc) and the instructions. Please note that
  • the stamp set (and any optional items you choose to purchase) will be sent direct to you by Stampin’ Up!
  • other elements of the kit will be sent to you by me. Base cards and any die cut or embossed elements will have been done for you, but you will have to cut the rest of the cardstock etc and as mentioned above, there will be options to add on extra items such as coordinating dies.
• Class Instructions Only – these will cost £10.00 but will be free if you place a min £30 (excluding P&P) online order that month.

Full details of April’s Classes (which will be featuring the Ornate Garden Suite) will be going on my Blog on 1 April. You will be able order and pay direct (VISA, VISA Debit or MasterCard) from there too.

Ordering for the Class Kit will only be open for a week to ensure that the kit gets to you in the month you order it.

3. New Series of Free Tutorials

I’ll be working with Robbie and Vicky again to bring you more free tutorials. In April we will be featuring the Best Dressed Suite.

Create It Farnborough - Make N Take and offers

Wow, I’m feeling exhausted and excited because I’ve just spent the weekend at the Create It Farnborough Show. I meet lots of lovely people while chatting on the stand and also while helping people on the Make N Take.

Build Your Own Scene with the Grace's Garden Bundle

Do you love to build your own scene when it comes to card making? At this weekend’s classes we had lots of fun with the Grace’s Garden Bundle and did just that.

I designed two simple but gorgeous cards (attendees opinions) together with one that is completely over the top with a fancy fold and lots of die cutting. Also gorgeous according to the attendees.

The simple card (above) has both the cat and flowers stamped and coloured directly onto a piece of Thick Whisper White. The sentiment was die cut using the smallest die from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. The bird stamp in the Grace’s Garden stamp set has a coordinating die in the Garden Gateway Dies. It’s pretty small so you need to be careful not to lose it.

The fun fold card is a basic Z Fold card, but then I went to town with stamping and die cutting the fence and flowers. When the card is closed it fits into a normal UK sized C6 envelope. And, the two stitched circles form the centre of the archway.

Product Coordination Release - Dies and Paper galore

Today’s sees the Coordination Product Release.  Some items coordinate with products in the 2020 Jan-June Mini Catalogue and others with items in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure.

Although the items are designed to coordinate, some can be used on their own. For this reason, I’ve fallen in love with the Sending Flowers Dies.

Yes, it does mean that I need to make square cards (not my usual thing) but I had so much fun making this one. Mind you, I did have to spend a little time finding the centres of some of the flowers. I found that the trick is to colour the flowers and centres first and then fix the centres in place with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional behind the flower.

The circular die was used on a 12 x 12 cm piece of Thick Whisper White Cardstock and then coloured using Stampin’ Blends. I love the detail around the circle and decided it would be fun to lift up alternate pieces for added interest.

Simple Stamping Sale-A-Bration Style

I love simple stamping so decided to make a board for a recent show which I’ve called Simple Stamping Sale-A-Bration Style. I took  three of the Sale-A-Bration stamp sets and designed three levels of card with each of the stamp sets.

 

The three stamp sets are The Gang’s All Meer, Happy Birthday To You and Thoughtful Blooms. Each of these stamp sets are available for free with a £45 spend (excluding P&P).

• Cards on the left are simple single layer cards that use, stamps, ink and notecards. A couple have been coloured using Water Colour Pencils (no water involved though).
• The middle column involves a technique such as masking, fussy cutting or punching.
• Cards on the right involve a few more techniques and products such as dies and  embossing folders.

Golden Honey paper makes the cutest beehive box

Did you know that the Detailed Bee Dies are perfect for cutting out the bees from the Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper? What’s more, the Golden Honey paper is free with a £45 product spend.

I used the Mini Curvy Keepsake Die (carried over from the Autumn/Winter catalogue) to make this cute beehive box.

It was really quick and simple to make. The box is cut from a 6″ x 6″ piece of the Golden Honey paper. And, using the coordinating Detailed Bee Dies, 4 bees (2 large and 2 small) are die cut from another sheet of the Golden Honey paper.

I didn’t have any wire, but found a twisty tie in a desk draw. The tie was wrapped around a pencil a few times and then adhered to the back of one of the larger bees using Tear & Tape.  I then adhered another large bee to the tie to hide it. The little bees have been glued onto the box using Multipurpose Glue.

Birthday Jubilee - Card & A Cuppa

For the first Card & A Cuppa of 2020 I designed projects using the Birthday Jubilee stamp set. I chose a Highland Heather card base and made three cards using the same basic card kit. Everyone attending has the option to follow the samples or do their own thing within the parameters of the kit and supplies I take.

This is just one of the cards I designed.

Each card kit contained

Highland Heather card base – 14.9 x 21.0 cm scored and folded in half at 10.5 cm

Whisper White panel – 10.5 x 14.9 cm and then die cut using the size down from the largest Stitched Rectangle Dies.

Whisper White insert – 10.0 x 14.4 cm. Stamp image using Memento Tuxedo Black and then colour using Stampin’ Blends.
