Vibrant Vases - Stepped Up Simple Stamping Saturdays

It’s time to share the stepped up versions of the Vibrant Vases card shared last Saturday. I have two cards to show you.

Vibrant Vases – Stepped Up Version 1

For this first version I’ve used a punch and also added some double sided paper and a doily.

Vibrant Vases stepped up version 1

To make the card

  • Thick Whisper White cardstock – 10.5 x 29.7 cm scored and folded in half at 14.9 cm
  • Bermuda Bay panel – 10.0 x 14.4 cm adhered to card front using foam pads (Stampin’ Dimensionals).
  • Whisper White panel – 9.5 x 13.9 cm with a strip  of spotted Bermuda Bay double sided paper measuring 4.0 x 13.9 cm glued down the centre.
  • A Coloured Doily – sponged on the reverse side with Poppy Parade ink. Then glued to the centre of the Bermuda Bay strip of double sided paper.
  • On a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock stamp the vase in Bermuda Bay and then the flowers in Poppy Parade and Granny Apple Green. The image is then punched out using the 2-1/4″ Circle Punch. Then, add to the doily using foam pads (Stampin’ Dimensionals).
  • Lastly a few rhinestones were added.

Vibrant Vases Stepped Up Version 2

This second card is a little more complicated to make because it involves some die cutting.

The frames are made using three concentric Rectangle Stitched Framelit Dies.  The largest and smallest were used to make the thicker frame in the background and the two smallest the thinner frame.

Hope you have enjoyed seeing these cards. You can shop for the supplies by clicking on the images below. Don’t forget to place the order before 31 March (by 10.50 pm) to ensure you are able to order an item from Sale-A-Bration for each £45 spent.

Happy stamping.

storage by stampin up

The new storage system is designed to hold

  • New style Classic Ink Pads and Stampin’ Write Markers
  • Stampin’ Blends
  • Small items such as ribbon/embellishments and ink refills.

The benefits to you of this fabulous new system are –

  • It looks great, and what’s more all your inks etc can be held within reach and will be easily seen. Store your colours by family or in rainbow order, it’s up to you.
  • Your ink pads, markers and Stampin’ Blends are stored horizontally, as recommended.
  • It’s compact, stackable and modular so you can add units as and when needed. In testing, Stampin’ Up! had 50 units stacked up but I wouldn’t recommend that!!
  • It’s easy to assemble and designed to sit on a flat surface (craft table, bookcase etc).
  • Because the units stack vertically, it leaves more space for you to craft on your countertop.

There are five different parts to the system. You can order the items you need to start you off and then add to it as and when your collection expands.

Here are just a few examples of how you can use the Storage by Stampin’ Up! system.

I can’t wait to get my In Color supplies organised, so I’m off to find a suitable spot to place them. You can place your order online come 1 April, or contact me direct by email .

Bouquet Blooms - CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #314

It’s the fourth Tuesday of the month, so time for me to set my last CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. It’s a sketch challenge and I’ve chosen to use the Bouquet Blooms stamp set along with the coordinating dies.

I took a bit of a liberty with my own sketch and popped the sentiment up on some dimensionals.

Bouquet Blooms for CAS Colours & Sketches #314

The images were stamped using some of the outgoing 2017-19 In Colors – Berry Burst, Fresh Fig and Lemon Lime Twist. The circle was stamped direct onto a panel of Whisper White and the flowers were stamped onto some scrap Whisper White.

The flowers were then die cut using the coordinating dies from the Gatefold Blossoms Framelit Dies. I even had an extra flower which I glued to the panel inside the card.

Bouquet Blooms for CAS Colours & Sketches 314

I hope that this Bouquet Blooms card inspires you to give the challenge a go. You will find the link to add your card over on the  CC&S blog and you have until 11.00 pm (UK time) on Monday, 1 April to add your card.

In the meantime don’t forget to pop over to the challenge blog to see what the other members of the design team have to share.

Want to earn an income or simply a discount on your own craft supplies?

Any time is a good time to join Stampin’ Up! But, now’s a good time because the current Sale-A-Bration offer ends on 31 March.

now's a good time to join

Reasons to Join Stampin’ Up!

There are lots of reasons to join Stampin’ Up! Here are what I think are the main ones.

  • You get to join a fun and friendly group of people who like nothing better than to get together, chat and craft.
  • There is the opportunity to go to exclusive OnStage events in the UK, Europe, USA or any country that Stampin’ Up! has a presence. So far I have been to events in Manchester (my first ever), Telford, Brussels, Amsterdam, Orlando, and the Gold Coast (Australia). At these events you
    • Receive a copy of the latest catalogue (April events – New Annual Catalogue, November events – Spring/Summer Catalogue).
    • Will see new products in action and get to try out some of them when doing the Make N Takes.
    • Win prizes.
    • Meet lots of like minded crafters, share ideas and even mingle and chat with some of your Stampin’ Up! heros (if that’s your thing).
    • Training.
    • There’s an exclusive bag filled with goodies for each attendee.
    • You get to take part in an exclusive pre-order just for attendees.
  • A discount on your purchases and sales for at least 3 months.
  • You choose how you want to utilise your Stampin’ Up! demonstrator-ship
    • Just for you, friends and family
    • Run your own business to suit you and your family’s needs. This can be through in person events such as classes, solely online or a mixture of the two. It’s your choice.
  • Opportunity to earn additional discounts and rewards should you so choose to do so. I never thought when I joined for the discount back in May 2011, that I could earn an incentive trip, but I did!! In July 2018 I went on an all expenses paid cruise for two in Alaska.
  • There are so many other opportunities available to you as a demonstrator, and I would love to tell you all about them, but I don’t want to turn this post into a massive one.

Suffice to say, I would love you to join my team of Crafting Acorns.

It does not matter if you live locally or not. Everyone is invited to all team events.  I hold  events both evenings and full days and of course there is also the phone, Facebook groups, Facebook Live and Zoom. Even those on the team who are technically challenged are able to join in through online events!

Current Sale-A-Bration joining offer and another reason why now’s a good time to join

At present you have two joining options:

  1. Choose £170 worth of product for £99.
  2. Choose £170 worth of product and receive the Craft & Carry tote bag too for £125.

Both options will ship to you for free and will also include a Business Starter Pack too.

Don’t forget that now’s a good time to join because these options are only available until 10.50 pm on 31 March. After that, the joining offer will revert to £130 worth for £99, which is still a really good deal. But, who wouldn’t want another £40 worth of goodies for free?

If you have already made up your mind to join you can do so by clicking on the following link

Simple Stamping Saturdays No.10 - Vibrant Vases

I’ve gone to town (not really) this week for my Simple Stamping Saturdays No.10 card by adding colour. When stamping two of the vases from the Vibrant Vases stamp set I used Bermuda Bay and Poppy Parade ink.

Simple Stamping Saturdays No.10 Vibrant Vases

The notecard is simple to make because the Vibrant Vases stamp set is a clear photopolymer one. This makes the layering of the stamped images very easy. The basic instructions for the notecard are as follows:

  • Stamp shelf in Memento Tuxedo Black onto the front of the notecard.
  • Then, stamp the outline images of the two vases in Bermuda Bay and Poppy Parade.
  • Thirdly, stamp the solid images of the two vases in the same colour but stamp off onto scrap paper first. This will ensure that the colour is a lighter shade. This is a technique known as Stamping Off.
  • Lastly, stamp the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black under the shelf image.

I also stamped an image on the inside of the notecard, just to finish it off. More often or not I will also stamp the same image on the envelope too.

The Vibrant Vases stamp set can be found on page 23 of the Spring/Summer Catalogue. This simple stamping project will also work with the Varied Vases stamp set found on page 45 of the Annual Catalogue.

Don’t forget, Simple Stamping is a great way to get into the craft of stamping. There is no need to invest in a huge amount of supplies to start. And, of course things such as the stamp set, ink, and clear blocks can be used time and time again.

My supply list for the notecard is below. Simply click on the images to be taken to my Online Store and add the items you want to your basket. Orders over £45 (excl. P&P) placed on or before 31 March will qualify for a free item (see details below).

Happy Stamping.

Animal Outing - Stepped Up Simple Stamping Saturdays

Animal Outing is such a cute stamp set that I just had to share the stepped up versions I made.

This first card involves

  • Stampin’ Write Markers, which were used to colour the bird and the grass, and
  •  1″ Circle and 1-3/8″ Scallop Circle Punches for punching out the sentiment.
  • Two inks – Tuxedo Black Memento ink and Granny Apple Green ink.

Animal Outing stepped up simple stamping saturdays

Instead of using a notecard I made my own card base from a 14.9 x 29.7 cm piece Pacific Point cardstock. The welcome sentiment was stamped in Pacific Point ink to give a tone on tone look.

For the second card the base card was made from a 14.9 x 29.7 cm piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock. Instead of Stampin’ Write Markers I used Stampin’ Blends.

Animal Outing Stepped Up Simple Stamping Saturdays

Instructions on how to make the second card

  • Glue 10.0 x 14.4 cm Whisper White panel to the card front and then glue a 7.0 x 7.0 cm piece of Granny Apple Green to the centre of the Whisper White panel.
  • Stamp the images and sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto a 9.0 x 12.0 cm piece of Whisper White.
  • Cut a rectangle around the image and sentiment using a Rectangle Stitched Framelits.
  • Die cut around the elephant image using the coordinating die from the Animal Outing Framelits Dies.
  • Colour in the images using Stampin’ Blends.
  • Die cut a frame from Granny Apple Green cardstock using two concentric Rectangle Stitched Framelits (the smaller of the two being the one used for the rectangle around the images).
  • Fix the Granny Apple Green Stitched Rectangle to the Whisper White Stitched Rectangle with the sentiment on it. I used strips of card behind to hold the edges together.
  • Adhere the rectangle to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals ensuring that the elephant outline is over the Granny Apple Green panel.
  • Pop the elephant image through the gap and adhere to the panel underneath. Remember to add the small piece that’s die cut out between the bird and the elephant (unless you want the Granny Apple Green to show through).
  • Finish card by adding some rhinestones and stamping the inside panel of Whisper White (10.0 x 14.4 cm).

Here’s a closer look at the elephant and bird.

Animal Outing closeup

That’s it for now. I’ll be back with another Simple Stamping Saturdays card soon.

Don’t forget, there is just over a week of Sale-A-Bration left so if you want to shop any of the supplies used and take advantage of the Sale-A-Bration offers you can do so by clicking on the images below.

Bubble Over - CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #313

Hello and welcome to the third challenge for March. This week I had to choose three colours for the challenge and based on those I’ve opted to use the Bubble Over stamp set. I’m always looking for cards for men so I thought it was time to make a couple more.

The challenge colours looks like this.

Here’s my card

Bubble over for CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #313

I’m running out of cards for men and thought that the colour combination for this week’s challenge would make for a great masculine card. The Bubble Over stamp set has some great images of bottles and labels. To add to that, the coordinating dies have really cute bottle tops.

Bubble Over stamp set and dies make for a great card for men

I hope that this Bubble Over card inspires you to give the challenge a go. You will find the link to add your card over on the  CC&S blog and you have until 10.00 pm (UK time) on 25 March to add your card. There’s only a 4 hr time difference for the next few weeks between the UK and the East Coast of the USA so please note the deadline if you are in the UK.

In the meantime don’t forget to pop over to the challenge blog to see what the other members of the design team have to share.

Let's Talk - Card Bases and how to make them

Let’s be honest, there are times when we the easiest and quickest route when it comes to card making. Pre-cut cards are great and serve a purpose but more often or not, we want to have a different coloured card base. Not everyone knows where to cut and where to score when it comes to a sheet of A4 card stock. Hence this latest Let’s Talk – Card Bases and now to make them.

Let's Talk - Card Bases

Here in the UK, card stock comes in A4 sheets which is a standard 21.0 x 29.7 cm (or 8.27″ x 11.69″). This is longer but narrower than the standard US card stock size (commonly known as letter size in the USA).

A6 cards

A standard card is an A6 card which is made from a piece of A5 card. Confusing? The thing to remember is the higher the number the smaller the piece of card stock! It’s probably easier to show you. Please note that the diagrams are not to scale.

Let's Talk - Card Bases

Each A4 sheet will provide two A6 cards.

  • The illustration on the left will give two cards with the fold that runs down the left when using in a portrait position and along the top when using in a landscape position.
  • The illustration on the right will give two cards with the fold along the top when using in a portrait position and along the left hand-side when using in a landscape position.

Square cards

Some people prefer to make and send square cards. I do make them on occasion, but tend not too simply because they are not as economical when it comes to cutting from A4 card stock.

Let's Talk - Card Bases

Each A4 Sheet will provide

  • 2 square cards measuring 10.5 x 10.5 cm square (diagram on left) or
  • 1 square card measuring 14.5 x 14.5 cm square (diagram on right).

It’s also possible to cut other sizes, you need to remember that for a square card one length needs to be twice the other.  Eg. If you want to a 10.0 x 10.0 cm card you need a piece of cards stock that measures 10.0 x 20.0 cm.

When making your own card bases you will need the following tools in addition to your chosen card stock

  • Paper Trimmer
  • Scoring Tool
  • Bone Folder

I can help you with all of these. The Stampin’ Trimmer has both a cutting and scoring blade and there is no need to take one off in order to use the other. You can find out more by visiting my Online Store. Alternatively click on the images below.

All of the information above it available as a printable document and can be found in the Tutorials Section of this blog.

I hope you have found this Let’s Talk – Card Bases and how to make them useful. You’ll find others in the series as follows:

  1. Let’s Talk – Stamps
  2. Let’s Talk – Ink
  3. Let’s Talk – Paper
  4. Let’s Talk – Adhesives
  5. Let’s Talk – Tools for a Basic Craft Kit

Happy stamping.

The last couple of cards have been wedding related so this one and the one planned for next week will be baby related. In fact, I went to town with this stamp set and made three cards.

Simple Stamping Saturdays No,9 - Animal Outing

I had a lot of fun with this first card. The giraffe image was stamped twice to look like they were two different heights. Can you see the frog sitting on the branch on the right hand side? He can be easily missed. The card isn’t gender specific unlike the next two.

For the second card I used the rhino and bird image and added a piece of Pool Party ribbon. You can of course any other colour.

The Kangaroo on this card looks so serene but I wonder if she knows she has a Koala Joey in her pouch and no a Kangaroo Joey.

You’ll find the supply list for these Simple Stamping Saturdays No.9 cards below. I’ve included details of all the relevant Clear Blocks you will need. Of course, the blocks can be used time and time again so they are a great investment.

You can place your order with me by clicking on any of the items and that will take you direct to that item in my Online Store or contact me via email .

Dandelion Wishes - Stepped Up Simple Stamping Saturdays

Did you see my last Simple Stamping Saturdays card using the Dandelion Wishes stamp set? If not, you can check it out here. Today however I am sharing my stepped up Dandelion Wishes cards.

Dandelion Wishes stepped up version

This first card has a Thick Whisper White base and both Basic Black and Daffodil Delight panels. To make the card

  • Stamp the dandelions in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink over the 6.5 x 14.9 cm Daffodil Delight cardstock panel.
  • Then also stamp the dandelions onto a scrap piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock.
  • Place the Daffodil Delight panel onto the card front and then stamp the seed heads onto the panel and also the card front.
  • Using a 2-1/4″ Circle Punch punch out a large circle of dandelions from the scrap piece of stamped Daffodil Delight cardstock.
  • Stamp sentiment onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and then punch out using a 1-3/4″ Circle Punch.
  • Glue the 8.0 x 14.9 cm piece of Basic Black cardstock to the card front.
  • Adhere the Daffodil Delight panel to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Be sure to line up the stamped seed heads.
  • Fix the stamped Daffodil Delight circle to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals making sure that it is lined up with the images on the Daffodil Delight panel.
  • Fix the sentiment to the Daffodil Delight circle using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • To finish, add some clear Rhinestones to the centre of the dandelion heads.

This second card is a little more complicated and involves using alternate sized Stitched Rectangle Framelits for the die cutting both the Highland Heather cardstock and the stamped Whisper White cardstock. The dandelion images were stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink to give a contrast against the Highland Heather cardstock.

Happy Mother's Day - Painted Seasons

Here in the UK we will be celebrating Mother’s Day at the end of the month. It therefore seemed like a good idea that one of the card options for last week’s Card & A Cuppa was a Happy Mother’s Day card.

Happy Mother's Day - Painted Seasons

The kits that I made up for the Happy Mother’s Day card included the following:

  • Grapefruit Grove card base – 10.5 x 29.7 cm which was scored and folded in half at 14.9 cm
  • Whisper White panel – 10.0 x 14.4 cm
  • Painted Seasons panel – 9.5 x 13.9 cm
  • Strip of Poppy Parade cardstock – 4.0 x 13.9 cm
  • Painted Seasons strip – 3.5 x13.9 cm
  • Whisper White stitched rectangle
  • Whisper White cardstock – 2 lots of 10.0 x 14.cm. One for inside the card and the other for stamping the flower and leaves.

I also took with me –

  • Poppy Parade Classic Ink Pad
  • Call Me Clover Classic Ink Pad
  • Clear Rhinestones
  • Glue and Dimensionals

Everyone stamped one Poppy Parade flower, three small Call Me Clover branches and two larger Call me Clover branches.

The Big Shot went to the Card & A Cuppa with me too, and those who wanted to die cut the flower and leaves themselves could. I cut the images for those who didn’t want to. A quick job when you have the right tools such as the Four Seasons Framelits Dies.

The Painted Seasons stamp set does not have any sentiments so the Thoughtful Banners stamp set also went with me. This is a great stamp set because you can make up your own sentiments using the stamps. I left people to choose what they wanted  – Happy Birthday, Thank You etc.

Happy stamping.

Touches of Texture - CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #312

Welcome to the second CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge of March. This week it’s time for a sketch challenge and I’ve chosen to use the Touches of Texture stamp set for the challenge that I’ve set.

When I originally designed the challenge I had certain ideas in my head. But, as quite often is the case the ideas didn’t work as planned so I took a different route. This is what I came up with.

Touches of Texture for CAS #312 challenge

The flower head was

  • stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock. Then,
  • coloured using the Light & Dark Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends and also the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends.

The whole Whisper White piece was then adhered to a Stitched Rectangle of Coastal Cabana using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The same outline stamp image was used inside the card. But, instead of colouring the image by hand the abstract flower image was stamped over the top.

Touches of Textures CAS #312 challenge

I hope that this Touches of Texture card inspires you to give the challenge a go. You will find the link to add your card over on the  CC&S blog and you have until 10.00 pm (UK time) on 18 March to add your card. There’s only a 4 hr time difference for the next few weeks between the UK and the East Coast of the USA so please note the deadline if you are in the UK.

In the meantime don’t forget to pop over to the challenge blog to see what the other members of the design team have to share.

Happy stamping.

Sale-A-Bration Coordination Update

We are not even half way through March and sadly, some Sale-A-Bration Coordination products have now sold out here in the UK. Hence this Sale-A-Bration Coordination Update.

I had planned various posts and have been busy making projects to share with you. I’m still going to share the Call Me Cupcake projects today as I know that some of you were able to get a hold of them before they sold out.

Here’s the updated graphic showing what is and what isn’t available at the time of writing this post.

I have an order going in tonight. So, if you are able to collect from me and want to add your order to mine please let me know before 8.00 pm.

In the meantime, here are a few of the cards that I have made with the Call Me Cupcake Framelits Dies.

Sale-A-Bration Coordination Update

For the card above I used the square spike that would normally go into the cupcake and used them as seed/flower labels.

Sale-A-Bration Coordination Update

For this second card, the cloche framelit die was used to cut the aperture for the shaker card. The cupcake is inside the shaker part along with lots of sprinkles – sequins from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment.

Sale-A-Bration Coordination Update

For this third card I simply used the candle topper once. The candles started off as Whisper White cardstock and Stampin’ Blends were used to colour them.

On the other hand, I went slightly over the top with the last card below!

Sale-A-Bration Coordination Update

The set of three candles were die cut out ten times, coloured using Stampin’ Blends and then stuck to the back of the Whisper White Stitched Circle. Most definitely a labour of love.

I hope that you have enjoyed seeing these fun cards. And, maybe they will inspire you to look at some of your dies in a different light.

Happy Stamping

Simple Stamping Saturdays No.8 - Dandelion Wishes

I’ve decided to continue with last week’s wedding theme for this Simple Stamping Saturdays No.8 card. Because of this, I have chosen to use the Dandelion Wishes stamp set. It’s a very simple stamp set with 3 gorgeous  images and 3 sentiments. A couple of the sentiments have two different fonts in them, which really makes them stand out. I particularly like the one that I’ve chosen to use because the important words stamp more boldly.

Simple Stamping Saturdays No.8 - dandelion wishes wedding card

Seeing as this is a Simple Stamping card with a wedding theme, I’ve used Smoky Slate ink for both the image and sentiment.

The trick is to stamp the sentiment first onto the notecard and then the dandelion image. This ensures that you are not looking for space to place the sentiment. The sentiment can then highlighted by a simple knot of White and Silver Satin Ribbon. The ribbon is fixed in place using a Mini Glue Dot.

Simple Stamping Saturdays - Dandelion Wishes wedding card

A simple but very sweet card.

Hope you enjoyed seeing this Simple Stamping Saturdays No.8 card. I’ll be sharing stepped up versions of it later in the week. In the meantime, if you want to purchase any of the supplies I used, simply click on the appropriate images below to visit my Online Shop.
